Raw turkey is fine, as long as there are no bones in it; a breeder I know feeds a combination of ground turkey and chopped liver, fortified with vitamins, to her show cats, and they are absolutely beautiful!

Raw food is controversial. Read this webpage to learn the pros and cons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_feeding

Raw meat should be either organic, or just anti-biotic free. It's fine as a snack, but if you plan to completely switch to a raw meat diet, you'll want to do some research. You need to ensure that your cat is getting all the nutrients it needs - likely you'll want to either add bone and organs OR investigate a supplement that provides what the bones and organs do. Good for you!

It's great. I use raw ground turkey for my home-prepared diet for my cats and it has a supplement powder which has calcium. Chunks of turkey are even better if your cat will chew on them as they are great for dental hygiene The caveat here is that the meat alone is very high in phosphorus and you must have a calcium source to have the proper balance for the cat. Turkey bones are too tough for a cat to deal with (maybe not in well-chopped up wings or a turkey neck - the liver and heart would be great too if you can get the butcher to save it for you). Raw chicken or Cornish Game Hen are easily chopped up bone and all and you usually get some heart and liver with that. So those are better sources for a "balanced" meal than the turkey. If your cat likes the raw turkey meat you are half-way there to having an excellent home-prepared diet for your cat. The Yahoo group WholeCatHeath is a great resource for what must go into a complete raw diet for a cat. Sandy Arora 's "Whole Health for Happy Cats" has great recipes and shows you how to prepare a raw diet. The book is available through Amazon for $12.
