s burnt food bad for your health

Is burnt food bad for your health?
I love to burn my food, usually until it's black. But now my friend tells me this is unhealthy. Is this true, and if so, how is it unhealthy?

6 :
Yes in excess they have been know to cause some certain types of cancers. You might want to be careful about how often you eat burnt food.
7 :
Yes. It has carcinigens (sic) in it that can cause cancer. In fact, you should eat your steak medium.
8 :
Burnt food is bad for your health Source: Daily Telegraph Date: 26 February 2003 Roger Highfield describes how eating roasted, grilled or barbecued food can be detrimental to health. Barbecuing or grilling food can produce small quantities of compounds called heterocyclic amines, which can cause cancer in animals. Acrylamide is also produced by certain cooking methods, and is classified as a carcinogenic substance. Some scientists are investigating the effects of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), the toxic byproducts of spontaneous interactions of sugars, fats and proteins. Food cooked at very high temperatures has been found to contain higher levels of AGEs than food that has been boiled or stewed.
9 :
Actually carbon in small amounts id good for you.
10 :
maybe.......ask your doctor
11 :
I heard it causes cancer. It's best you avoid it, for your future health.
12 :

Yes, it can contain carcinogens, which cause cancer.
14 :
I grew up with burnt food (thanks mum) and i'm falling to bits at 32 - it could be that....
15 :
not sure but definitely bad for the taste buds
16 :
It has been reported that burned food can be carcinogenic.
17 :
I have heard that carbon in burned foods is good for your digestive tract. He might be thinking of soot, which is cancerous.
18 :
There has been research that shows cancer causing compounds developing in burned food
19 :
i have also heard it can cause cancer, but i have also heard that charcoal stops you farting, so who knows lol
20 :
I heard its bad for you. But burnt food is soooooooooo good. Mmmm burnt food. I love it. People always think its weird when I eat it.
21 :
Also not healthy is letting your cooking oils reach their smoke-point. The oil changes and is really bad for you. Don't overheat and smoke your cooking oils! Different oils have different temparture tolerances. For example olive oil shouldn't be used for high heat sauteing.
22 :
Burnt food may produce carcinogens and has been linked to cancer in studies. But everything is linked to cancer. Eat in moderation. http://www.thetampapodiatrist.com
23 :
lets just say it doesnt taste good so figure it out

omg! that is hilarious!!!!!
3 :
when will the government STAY the heck out of our lives. Enough with BIG government. WE ALL know fast food is not the best food for us to eat but WE live in a FREE country not CHINA!!!! if you do not like McDonald's than DO not go.
4 :
Food police can kiss my black ass.
5 :
What research is needed, all McDonald's needs to do is talk all the cemicals out of there food.
6 :
Don't laugh to hard if any of you heard Obamas speech in San Fran it may not be that far off "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said. Isn't the whole point of being a sovereign country that we don't have to care what other countrys say.
7 :
I'm sure it's on Nancy Pelosi's list. She'll get to it. After ending the war and saving the schnoodle bug.
8 :
Pelosi already pushed for a greener menu at the House cafeteria. LOL! Pelosi pushes gourmet menu The processed cheese has been replaced with brie. The Jell-O has made way for raspberry kiwi tarts and mini-lemon blueberry trifles. Meatloaf has moved over for mahi mahi and buns have been shunted aside in favor of baguettes. A revolution is afoot at the deli counters, grills and salad bars of the U.S. House of Representatives. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0108/7888.html
9 :
when the whole nation is diabetic!!!!
10 :
there trying to force big oil to invest in solar and wind and not make a profit. Why not force mickey Dee's to invest in tofu or rice burgers . make Burger king invest in a seafood only place. If McDonald's would take all the chemicals out of their food it would be better, but taste like.crap
11 :
Erm. There are many many types of already available healthy foods a person can choose to eat. There is only type of gasoline a person can put into his/her car and industry can use to make plastic and heat my house. Oil, unlike food, is also non-renewable. Poor analogy. And I'm sure you know McDonald's in fact does run advertising promotions for people to exercise and eat healthier - they have health-food items on their menu. Oil companies do not have a single (non-stupid) alternative on their menu - and I unfortunately put ethanol under the "oil companies' pathetic attempt at pretending like they're doing something to solve the problem" tab.
12 :
No, but they might stop McDonald's from taking over public school cafeterias and re-regulate the way they advertise to kids

Because he has to make sure the war profiteers and corporations get their money first.
2 :
who says people can't get health care or food? our tax payer dollars pay for war funds...why should my money go to pay for others health care and food? I have to pay for my own.
3 :
the govt is supposed to protect us, not feed us and give us healthcare. At the same time don't get me wrong way too much is spent on this war. We should make Iraq pay for a % of it as well. All politicians are crooks and liar, doesn't matter if you're a Rep or Dem
4 :
His priorities!
5 :
I thinks it sucks! But, by this time next year, we will have elected a new President and hopefully things will get better.
6 :
While I understand your question fully well, I wouldn't even dare to start offering my opinion on this one because I most likely wouldn't be able to stop.
7 :
it is the senate who aproves all these bills so you can't just blame bush he has to get everything aproved and our troops do need the best of everything while they are over there fighting for our lives i know doesnt seem fare but thats politics.
8 :
he makes money off the war looses it off of taking care of us
9 :
Being an American why can't you get health care and food yourself. Don't depend on the government to provide it for worthless people who don't want to work and earn it for themselves.
10 :
Because the Government is not responsible for someone's inability to take care of themselves or their family...maybe finishing High School would have helped...the Constitution is explicit where it says the Government will provide for Defense, but not someone's Big Mac at McDonald's...why didn't Clinton fix it in his 8 years? More people were without Healthcare during the late 90's than now...back when the Constitution was written, if a person could not provide for themselves and did not have family to help them, they died...hence Darwin theory in action...only the strong survive...
11 :
You compare apples to oranges and claim confusion when they seem different. The short version is the war is not going away because it can't go away (I'd explain but I doubt the folks around here could comprehend). The people without health care or food however can get a job and stop being a blight on society.
12 :
Blahblahblahblah. NOTHING IS FREE!
13 :
Why don't people get jobs and pay for that themselves? I've worked all my life and I've always had enough for that sort of thing. It's not the government's job to pay for all of the lazy losers and it's those lazy losers that keep the people that really need it from getting theirs.
14 :
No profit margin for oil companies and defense contractors in helping people.
15 :
That is both the most intelligent question and the saddest. What does it say about our president.. and our congress?
