I recently switched my 3 cats to Blue Seal cat food, and now 2 of them are having health issues

I recently switched my 3 cats to Blue Seal cat food, and now 2 of them are having health issues.?
One had blood in its stool and I noticed tonight another has blood in his urine. I don't know if the food has anything to do with the health problems, and I will be taking them to the vet for a checkup, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with Blue Seal or By Nature pet food?

I have never heard of this brand of food. So, I won't be of much help to you. All I can say is don't feed them that brand anymore. Talk to the doctor and see what he or she says about this.
2 :
I haven't heart of that food either, sorry. But here is a page that discuses pet food problems: http://itchmoforums.com/index.php I hope your guys are O.k. ,good luck!
3 :
First off...GET THEM TO THE VET. I'm unfamiliar with that food brand. Why did you switch foods anyway? Did you introduce it slowly?--a little in with previous food, then a little more, etc.??? Anyway. I hope your babies are okay, keep watch on the 3rd one. Good Luck!!!!!!
4 :
A lot of times, animals tend to get use to a certain brand of food. Switching it can cause a lot of problems for them. Get them to a vet just to make sure its nothing too serious.
5 :
Never used it...but if I were you I'd stop and take them to the vet. That's strange, and can't be good. If it is the food-- contact the company or the news and tell them...they shouldn't be selling unsafe pet food. Also, make sure the ingredients don't list "corn" as the main one-- that's not good for a cat as cats are carnivores, not vegitarians or omnivores.
6 :
CHANGE IMMEDIATELY.....theres been a HUGE epidemic in pet food recently, the food caused kidney failure and death.....please take it to the vet right now!!! i'm begging you!!! save your loved one
7 :
I hope you have already made an appointment with your vet because any bleeding is serious with cats. If you have unopened cans of both cat food, take one of each with you to the vet so he/she can see what you have been feeding them. Vets receive info that the public might/might not have available. Good luck with your furbabies. Mine died during the night while waiting to see vet the next morning. It was the pet food that caused it.
8 :
Never heard of it but you have enough reason to dump it. A cat should only be on a good high protein diet with low carb and Never ever dry. Please read this and I promise your kittys will be better. BUT they must see a vet now. I am glad you made an appointment. Would like to know what happens. Feeding a cat a healthy diet is of the utmost importance for the good health of every cat. Many people feel that dry is the best way to go. Vets feel it is the way to go. Why? Vets are taught very little about nutrition and they are taught what they know by the Pet Food Companies. The companies push dry as it is the very cheapest food in the world to make as they use fillers, vegetable protein and things that cats do not eat in normal life like veggies and fruits. Of course the veggies and fruits are NOT good for human consumption and thus they get it free or for pennies so the big suppliers can get rid of it. Dry does not keep teeth clean. A cats jaw is made to grab, tear and shred. They have no chewing action. When a cat barfs he throws up the chunks of food. Sometimes the dry shatters but that doesn't rub on the teeth either. A vet told me that she had an elderly cat around 20 who had had wet food her whole life and never had a problem with her teeth, but she had a 7 month old kitten who had to have every tooth pulled since they were so bad he was sick. Dry food causes diabetes, UTI's, Kidney problems and the list is to long to continue. The proper food is a diet for an obligate carnivore. Remember you have never seen a lion chasing a biscuit. Your cat needs wet food of good quality. It should be high in protein and under 10% carb. You should not feed your cat fish or seafood more than 1 or 2 meals a week if that much as they become addicted to it and it is high in phosphorous and low in nutritional value. http://www.geocities.com/jmpeerson/canfo... Here is a chart of most wet foods. The good and the bad. Look for one that is high in protein and low in carbs. Fancy feast is a good middle of the road one, and the cheaper brands but still following the rule are much better than any dry ever could be. Wellness is on the higher end with higher cost. But you have good food. It is cheaper to feed a cat the wet as they are filled up faster. Think if you are hungry and eat a bag of potato chips you are soon hungry but if you have a nice piece of chicken you are filled up longer. The same for a cat. I began adding small amount of water and mixing it in good for the meals and now add 1/4 cup water to 1/3 cup wet food. It is now like soup. It keeps the food from drying out and Cessan eats when she wants. She is a grazer and I let her be happy. She gained the weight she needed and then the weight gain stopped. If your cat is over weight he will lose weight on a wet diet. Here is a link explaining very clearly cat nutrition and care. It is excellent and I think every new cat owner should have to read it first. http://catinfo.org/ Good luck to you and your sweet kitty.

Are you feeding canned or dry? Canned is better. Their food isn't the greatest, but neither is it the worst I've seen. I've checked the recall lists and Blue Seal was not recalled at any point. That doesn't mean the food might not be the problem, so I concur that you should save any unused food for analysis. It is certainly possible that your cats are just now presenting symptoms of already-present conditions and it's just coincidental. My recommendation is to switch them back to the old food until you hear what your vet has to say, and pending an analysis of the new food. After that, you might want to consider trying a different food anyway. As I said, this isn't the worst food I've seen, but there are better brands out there. I'll link you to lists that suggest some, both dry (although I don't approve) and canned. Not on the dry list but also good is Wellness Core and Nature's Variety Instincts.
10 :
So what are you feeding your cats? What were you feeding your cats before? Did you take the time to transition from your old diet to your new diet? Are you feeding dry or canned food? We have a cat that has a pretty tender tummy and we searched and searched for a good food and ended up on By Nature organic cat food and she has done very well. We switched our dog to the By Nature organic dry food and he loves it and looks great. Back to the cat, we have tried all kinds of canned food, even this one (by nature organic) and she always throws up. So we just go with dry and make sure she has plenty of water. We live in New England and Blue Seal has been in business up here forever. Have you been in contact with the Company

Why don't Health Food Stores accept Food Stamps

Why don't Health Food Stores accept Food Stamps?
If the Government's Food Stamp program is designed to promote healthy foods, why can't Health Food Stores (General Nutrition) accept a Food Stamp card?
Government - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Because those things aren't healthier, just more expensive and a waste of money.
2 :
General Nutrition, is NOT a health FOOD store.
3 :
Is it a Co-op health food store?
4 :
Whether or not a store accepts food stamps is their prerogative, and it may cost them money or it just may be too time consuming to do so. If they haven't had a lot of reason to accept them, it's probably easier not to. Besides, don't most mainstream grocery stores sell Health Food items anyway? Not to judge, but won't you get more bang for your buck shopping in a grocery store, then in a boutique health food store

Do you believe that microwaving food is dangerous to your health

Do you believe that microwaving food is dangerous to your health?

I read the book Natural Cures advertised on tv and Trudeau says that microwaves change the molecular structure of food in such a way that it is very harmful to your body. This is not his original idea, it has been going around for years.

no I dont if they where really harmful they would of been pulled off the market along time ago
2 :
Microwaving only excites the molecules in food to cause them to heat up. There is no hard proof that there is any danger.
3 :
No not dangerous but unhealthy. It supposedly kills alot of the vitamins and nutrients in your food.
4 :
hey man..i'm not going without my microwavable pizza..so..if i die i die.
5 :
NOPE!! Microwaves don't harm the food!!!
6 :
I hope not
7 :
Microwave cooking: Is it bad for your health? Since they first appeared on the market in the late 1960s, microwave ovens have become standard kitchen equipment. They can cook and reheat food faster than conventional ovens, making them popular with busy householders and restaurateurs. A microwave oven uses radio waves to cook food. The commonly used frequency is roughly 2,500 megahertz (2.5 gigahertz). Radio waves in this frequency range are absorbed by water, fats and sugars, then converted into heat. Normal heating of food occurs when heat goes from the outside to the inside. Microwaves go to the inside and then move outward. If you cook a potato in the microwave for over an hour, the outside may appear uncooked but when you open it up, there will be charcoal inside. When food molecules are hit by electromagnetic radiation, they spin and create friction, which cooks the food. This is why a microwave oven remains cool inside although the cooked or reheated food is hot. Because of the reduced cooking time and the fact that microwaves use less water than conventional boiling, vegetables cooked in the microwave are said to retain more water-soluble vitamins such as Vitamin C and thiamine. The quality of protein is higher in microwave than in conventionally cooked food as far less oxidation occurs in meat cooked in a microwave. Lack of browning is visible evidence that heating is gentler, and makes it likely that vitamins A and E are better retained than in conventional cooking. However, a lawsuit in the United States in 1991 suggested that microwave ovens can actually change the chemical structure of substances heated in them and make them toxic to human beings. The lawsuit was lodged by the family of Norma Levitt, an Oklahoma woman who died during hip surgery. Levitt had received a blood transfusion and the blood had been warmed in a microwave oven. Around about the same time, the University of Minnesota warned against heating baby bottles in the microwave because it "can cause slight changes in the milk". "In infant formulas, there may be a loss of some vitamins. In expressed breast milk, some protective properties may be destroyed," said the university's radio announcement. "Warming a bottle by holding it under tap water or by setting it in a bowl of warm water, then testing it on your wrist before feeding, may take a few minutes longer, but it is much safer." Swiss food scientist Hans Hertel conducted an experiment on the effects that eating microwave food had on eight individuals. Blood samples were taken after the subjects had eaten and it was found that levels of haemoglobin, a protein responsible for the red colour of blood that carries oxygen to the tissues, had decreased. In addition, Hertel found that the number of leucocytes (white blood cells) increases after eating microwave food, something that haematologists take very seriously, because this is often a sign of highly harmful effects, such as poisoning. Also, after eating microwave food, cholesterol levels increased. In her article "The Dangers of Microwave Cooking", Sydney kinesiologist Stephanie Relfe wrote: "Microwaves have been with us for only a few decades and that, in that short time the incidence of many diseases has continued to increase". "Today we hear of incredible instances of poor health, like teenagers getting heart attacks, and people in their 20s and 30s dying of cancer," she wrote. "This was virtually unheard of at the beginning of the century." Relfe said she began to warn her clients not to eat microwave food. "I gave this a higher priority than any of things that are normally considered as health risks, such as cigarettes or alcohol," she said. "Immediately I began to get a marked improvement in the results I was getting. Long term problems such as headaches, backaches, and emotional instability went away within a few weeks." Another kinesiologist, David Bridgman, reported similar results. "Of all the people I test for allergies, 99.9% so far show severe sensitivity to any microwave food," he said. However, very few studies have been conducted on the effect that microwave cooking has on food. And because of the small sample size used in Hertel's experiment, the results could be seen as inconclusive.
8 :
Na! Just don't dry your pet poodle in one, or place metal in it.
9 :
i heard it's not good. the radiation ruins the molecules in the food. so you kinda eat this "damaged" food with lots of radiation... plus it takes away a lot of the good vitamins and minerals in it. though i love cooking, sometimes when you're in a rush, unfortunately the microwave is the way to go. oh well

what kind of drug can I take over the counter at a health food store besides pravastation

what kind of drug can I take over the counter at a health food store besides pravastation?

Are you talking about PRAVACHOL® (pravastatin sodium) the cholesterol drug? It's hard to know what you're really wanting to know w/ the way you worded your question.
2 :
Simple. Niacin.Pravastatin is part of the statin drugs formulated to lower your cholesterol but needs a prescription. However, over the counter niacin simply works too. Niacin, a B vitamin, has long been used to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the "good" cholesterol. HDL cholesterol helps sweep up low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad" cholesterol, in your bloodstream. Although niacin is readily available and effective, it hasn't gotten much attention compared to other cholesterol drugs. A lot of the attention regarding cholesterol has been focused on lowering your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad" cholesterol. That's still an important goal. But boosting your HDL level can be just as important as lowering your LDL cholesterol. Taking niacin — either by itself or along with other cholesterol-lowering medication — may help control your total cholesterol level

What if all the fast food restraunt were expensive and the more health restraunts and healthy food was cheap

Would there be more thin people than overweight people? Tell me what you think.

that would be amazing if it happened. but sadly i think both. people become hooked on fast food even if they think their odering something "healthy" from the fastfood resturante. healthy food isnt really expensive so its not much of a big deal. people choose what they want to eat and most of the time its a bad decision cause french fries sounds better than carrots, celery, beans, potatos, ect..
2 :
If it has been that way ever since there may be a lot less overweight people. The thing is people could still cook food at home that are high in fat or carbohydrates since they've already been eating junk food since they were kids and that's the kind of food their bodies are craving for.
3 :
No. Most people prefer what or where they eat. It is a choice they make every day. Time may be more important than money. Slow or fast , Drive through or sit down? If I could not afford a hamburger. The lines would be longer at the healthy restaurant and I would have to eat Twinkies and I already want to hurt you. LOL

Since I started to work out I was looking for a good weight loss product. I was on a diet but I felt that I needed a little "help" so I decided to try this great product and I had fantastic results. You can check their website at http://www.be-thin.us , they give you a free trial and you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling.

hospitals and health centers would be empty.. no patients at all and doctors would go broke.?
