I'm sure that would be just fine, but I really have to mention that it may be quite possible to reform the American healthcare system without having to see significant tax increases, A healthier nation *should* actually produce more tax revenues without having to increase the rates. When people are not being denied coverage for pre-existing conditions and whatnot, having more reasonable healthcare costs not having to compensate for uninsured hospital visits, etc, the general public will simply have more money in their pockets which will naturally generate economic growth resulting in higher tax revenues, so raising taxes should then be unnecessary.
2 :
It's a good thought, but I have lived in states with a 2% food tax already. It mattered in my budget. When you tax food, you hurt the largest group of people you are trying to help, the poor, uninsured, and underemployed

cover your food (in the fridge) do not cross contaminate (don't use the same knife that you just cut chicken with to cut a tomato) Wash your hands before handling food. (Just like the signs in the bathrooms say) You get food borne illnesses when germs/bacteria/whatever other nasties, enter your body. These of course originate in food, and usually enter through the mouth

The key to good health is a good digestive system, because all disease most likely starts with the digestive system. The digestive systems main function is absorb nutrients and put them into your bloodstream so they can be shipped to the cells in your body. Diarrhea, constipation, stomach ulcers, bad fingernails, pain, low testosterone, low concentration are all symptoms that tell you that you are not getting the right amount of nutrients in your body. You should LISTEN to your body to know how your health is doing. If your not getting brown, snake like poop, that is a sign that you should pay more careful attention to how you eat. Actually what really determines digestion is: 1) How well you break foods up with your mouth and saliva 2. A balanced diet that contains water, fats, proteins, carbs, vitamins, antioxidants, minerals 3) The type of food and whether the food has a poison or toxin in it 4) How much you have of one substance per certain time. So it is how fast you eat something. So if you have too much of one substance, it becomes TOXIC. Even water, in excessive amounts per time can be toxic. Too much of a good thing in a certain amount of time can be a bad thing. 5) How well you mix certain foods with each other. 6) Good Sleep ( Sleep helps your digestive system work better. 7) Exercise (Exercise helps your digestive work better) 8) The amount of food you have stuffed up in your digestive system. It is generally best to eat every 4 hours = 3 meals per day, or 6 SMALL meals per day. But actually, how much you eat per day depends on your weight and your bodily calorie intake, and of course, your digestive system and metabolism, so really, it is different for every person. After you have absorbed the right NUTRIENTS and FOODS, they need to be shipped to the cells of your body. There are thousands of cells in your body, and so if you do not get the nutrients that these cells need, than these cells will die, and your health will diminish. According to scientific theory, which has a lot of evidence supporting it, the cells in our body need 6 things to survive: Water + Oxygen + Organic Molecules + Fats(YES FATS!!!) + Carbohydrates + Protein These are things that your body MUST get(according to theory though). Fats are NOT an option in the diet. Your body NEEDS FATS! However you should AVOID trans fats, because these are the fats that your body does not have the ability to digest and break down(it lacks an enzyme in order to do so) The cell has a superimpermeable membrane that allows certain substances in and keeps other substances out. Note that the system is not perfect, and some toxins DO get in. But keep in mind that the cell keeps away the TOXINS, and brings in the NUTRIENTS. Other things such as Vitamins and Antioxidants and minerals help your digestive system work better. Without antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, your body cannot absorb the nutrients it needs for growth. It is important to note that NATURE'S foods are NOT NECESSARILY healthier than processed foods. Even Nature itself has its poisons and note that some plants and animals are EVEN MORE toxic that the processed foods that we eat on a daily basis. For example, some foods such as certain wild berry's cannot be eaten. These berries contain toxins that can cause diarrhea, organ failure, and sometimes death. Another instance is the SEEDS in an apple. You can't die from eating one apple's seeds, but if you eat too many seeds, they have known to be toxic to your body. The reason is because there is a substance in there that the apple has evolved with. Its main reason for the toxic seeds is to protect itself from predators. It DOES NOT WANT to be EATEN!!! That's why the apple has evolved. Another animals meat is another animals poison. This is true because we humans are unable to eat the Death Cap Mushroom, while Rabbits CAN.

Does microwaving food or water cause any health effects?
I have read and heard that microwaves can essentially destroy the nutrients in the food and that microwaving water to make tea or something can also be bad for you. Is this true?

Is cooked food bad for your health

Is cooked food bad for your health?
Does cooked food make us feel sluggish and tired? I'm planning on going on a fresh fruit and vegetable diet.

Cooked food, no, I love cooking my eggs and chicken and shrimp and cod, and crab, and salmon, etc. What does make me feel sluggish is fried foods, for example, and kind of fast food, even home made fried chicken has that effect.
2 :
no, it doesn't, but fruit and vegetables are a very important part of your diet too. If you do go on this diet, make sure you have the proper amount of protein in a day, otherwise u could get really sick. I hope i helped, and good luck! :)
3 :
Well, theory has it that cooked food 1) kills all nutrients, vitamins, many minerals and 2) even modifies them to make them into molecules that are "unfamiliar" to our bodies, even carcinogenic. This is definitely true for roasted things. Cooked food also acts as a mild sedative. We don't say "comfort food" for no reason. It can make the foods acidic to our system, whereas ideally we have a slightly alkaline Ph. I do a primarilly raw food diet. What happens is...you detox. Like mad. And your digestive system is NOT used to having all of these fibers that are intact. You have to be careful to ease into it. I now add one cooked meal a week. I don't know what is going on. It can be so cleansing that all my past sins are coming out of their hiding place in my liver (five years a smoker, a lifetime of TV dinners from a bad mother, etc
