Does it make a difference according to your health the way you eat your food

Does it make a difference according to your health the way you eat your food?
I mean if you had a plate of steak, vegetables, and mashed potatoes. Would It affect my health any way? For example is their any difference from eating steak first, vegetables second, and mashed potatoes last? Or eating your vegetables first, mashed potatoes second, and steak last? peace Alright thanks boss.

Not much - you only need to remember that you need to chew carbohydrates well for a minute or so at least because most of carbohydrate digestion happens in the mouth. You also need to eat some form of lean protein in every meal - steak is not very healthy. Also the best meal is one that has a bit of complex carbs like potatoes, fibrous carbs like vegetables and a source of lean protein like egg whites, salmon, tuna etc... You also need good fats like nuts, avocados occasionally. Other than this, if you are eating small portions and once every 3 hours, the order in which you eat anything on your plate does not matter

Are you sick and tired of the Health Food (anti-meat/soda) Food Nazis

Are you sick and tired of the Health Food (anti-meat/soda) Food Nazis?
First the health Nazis attacked tobacco, after getting traction on that issue they began attacking fast food joints, then they turned their sights onto soda... the health food zealots won't be satisfied until red meat is outlawed! I don't know about you but I'm very angry and Hades will freeze over before I sit down to a supper of raw carrots and celery washed down with a disgusting glass of grapefruit juice. Fast food is just that... just something fast and convenient... soda is just a snack drink. I wouldn't go to a McDonalds or a BurgerKing for a salad or a piece of fruit and if that's all they served or even a majority of their menu I would go else where. Only a fool would attempt to eat fast food three times a day/seven days a week. But it is convenient when your either in a hurry or on the run. Are you as angry as I am? Are you sick and tired of the health food Nazis attempting to dictate what you can eat and drink? How much would you care to wager the HMO's are the ones ultimately behind the health food propaganda? ----------------------- Control tobacco, food ads to beat cancer - panel By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor Thu Aug 16, 12:14 AM ET http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070816/hl_nm/cancer_usa_dc;_ylt=Ap3_o.sabt8ApNmBJxcrP469j7AB A new presidential report on cancer takes on not only tobacco companies but the food industry while calling on the federal government to "cease being a purveyor of unhealthy foods" and switch to policies that encourage Americans to eat vegetables and exercise. The report, issued on Thursday, also urged changes in public and private insurance policies to encourage doctors to spend more time counseling patients on how to stay healthy by eating right, exercising and avoiding tobacco. "Ineffective policies, in conjunction with limited regulation of sales and marketing in the food and beverage industry, have spawned a culture that struggles to make healthy choices -- a culture in dire need of change," said the report, available on the Internet at http://pcp.cancer.gov. "Moreover, the panel was troubled to find that the efforts of those committed to an America less burdened by cancer often are compromised by federal, state, and local policies that have decreased the availability and affordability of healthy foods, limited physical education in schools, and created a built environment that discourages physical activity," it said. Several reports have shown that a third of all cancers are caused by tobacco use, and another one-third by obesity and inactivity. "This country must not ignore its moral obligation to protect the health of all Americans. We can and must empower individuals to make healthy choices through appropriate policy and legislation, and the panel urges you to use the power of your office toward this life-saving goal," the President's Cancer Panel, chaired by Howard University's Dr. LaSalle Leffall, wrote in a letter to Bush.

no one has the right to tell me what i can eat or deink. if they dont like it they dont have to consume it but what i do is none of their business.
2 :
just wait til we have a national healthcare plan and then the gov't can really start dictating our health choices.
3 :
I wonder why they don't target alcohol. Could it be that they are the ones consuming most of it?
4 :
Cows are killing us now . Hey look at one time the buffalo they said cover an entire state . Millions roamed free . and herds would leave a trail 3 miles wide across the plains .
5 :
Oh, I agree with you completely. I had an uncle to die at age 90--smoked all his life--died of old age, not tobacco. Knew a lady to die of lung cancer--never smoked 1 cigerette or around second-hand smoke. It is anti-everything now. Yes, I am so sick of it all. I could go on and on but serve no purpose. lol Thank you so much--love opinions like yours. ;-)
6 :
No, I am not. But as a chef, I have dealt with dietary schizophrenia from american diners for 20 years. It is part of doing business. Now, one thing I support is education...you say 'only an idiot would eat it three times a day...' well, that is because we now KNOW that you should not eat it that ofetn...because of 'health nazis'. Also, if the gov't wants to subsidize school lunch programs, or regulate the quality of food in prisons or hospitals, I can tell you that I certainly support my tax dollars being used to nourish, and NOT fatten children, inmates, patients, etc...So in those sectors, it makes sense. Children can't learn on sugar alone, and patients can't heal well with high fat diets. As far as eliminating what adults who use their own money to purchase their food, and their own money to pay for their healthcare, that will never happen. For the rest, who enjoy the same premiums I pay for iunsurance, even though they may smoke or eat like crap, I say let them eat cake. Just charge them more for their insurance and let those of us who make good choices enjoy lower costs because of it.
7 :
It is appropriate to encourage eating establishments to offer choices. Some people don't have a choice where they can eat. There are the mothers who would like to eat a salad but don't mind their kids eating the "Happy Meals." But market demands should drive the owners' decisions. I agree with you MANDATING what can or can't be served is wrong. Having worked for an HMO, I doubt seriously they are driving this trend. HMOs don't care. They are purely a dollars and cents organization. This trend is coming from the government which increasingly feels it should mandate our lives in every way. As someone else here said, it will only get worse if we move towards universal health care. Just look at the stupid legislation coming out of England lately and you will see our future.
8 :
Wait until they control Health Care. Then you'll see what government run wild can do to you. You'll eat what they tell you or find your health care suspended. Like T-bone? Have some grass instead. Mandatory menus featuring the health food craze of the month at all restaurants. Mickey D and the Burger King will be executed at dawn with politically correct "kinder/gentler" bullets.
9 :
As a nurse for 10+ years, I can say life is a crap shoot. You are what you eat. If people go on the aurgument that the can eat what they want, then in that same mind set the health conscience can be grossed out also. It all falls under freedom of choice. As a health conscience eater, I could care less what other people eat as long as they use good manners. Plus, the upside of people eating poorly and chancing poor health keeps my paychecks a comin' in. So carry on!
10 :
Hello Dr. Evil, loved you on 60 mins. I agree we should learn about the food we eat, and make up our own minds on what to feed ourselves.
11 :
If it bothers you, ignore it. Go eat your fried food and live with the consequences. I have no doubt that on this diet you will feel like crap but hey, it's your choice. So what if other people don't agree with you or if you don't agree with others; I care not, your opinion doesn't affect my life and mine shouldn't affect yours. I'm a raw foodist and I eat this way so that I can feel great. It's my damn choice and I appreciate the research that supports my aims. Do you think it would be better for this research or opinions to be censored? Just because you don't like to hear it? Tough titties, it won't happen. Deal with it. Eat your burgers, be gassy, be flabby, be constipated, and be content to ignore the messages of health zealots who rub you up so much the wrong way. Bottom line, get over it.

right on

What kind of food is better for mental health

What kind of food is better for mental health?
Iam suffering frm OCD,ADHD and memory loss, mind sluggishness. What kind of food is better for making my mind reliable, fresh and sharp and increasing concentrating power..!

anything with omega 3s will help your mind, especially fish, eat in moderation weekly. superfruits like blueberries are very good, anything purple. green tea is good. saturated fats will keep you sluggish, like breads, fast foods, junk food. keep on the healthy track and you will feel better. get some exercise as well that will also help. good for you, alot of people make them selves worse by smoking pot and drinking and their minds just deminish. keep up the good work. try reading as much as you can and do things to retain memory like try to memorize license plates #s when you randomly see them , look at them for a second and try to remember it for as long as you can, also try to notice the color of the color of the car,etc along with it, it just helps jog your memory. try not to get frustrated just keep on it. do word puzzles, etc. there are certain electronic games out there that are for memory practices too.
2 :
Well any junk food and concentrated food is bad for you. Notice after you eat any of those types of foods you feel kinda sluggish and eh? Eat fruits ( berries are very good for you), wheat germ, vegetables, and natural foods. Something that hasnt been broken down or isnt drenched in grease. Eat rice, chicken, turkey, salads, nuts, etc

Do you think we should tax junk food to cover the expenses of health care

Do you think we should tax junk food to cover the expenses of health care?
It would encourage people to eat better, and raise a lot of money from the unhealthy eaters. Right now our farm legislation subsidies the production of raw material for junk food.

its already taxed in most states.
2 :
Taxing junk food? That's like taxing 98% of what american's eat. What's the difference between junk food and wholesome food in america anymore? everything is so Genetically modified, so irradiated, has almost no real nutritional value, almost everything americans eat is garbage.
3 :
No. We don't need to drive business out of business.
4 :
so the governments should decide what you eat? come on really? are you serious? get the hell out of out private lives
5 :
yea y not. it isn't a need to stay alive so y not.
6 :
Ok, but leave the fried chicken out of it. I gotta have me some fried chicken once in a while.
7 :
Yes. And tax camping trips, vacations, haircuts, and movies. What did I miss?
8 :
It used to be taxed in Maine, but I think they eliminated that tax. It made no sense. When you bought a dozen doughnuts in a bakery, you paid the tax. If they came in a box at the supermarket, no tax. ∠°)
9 :
That's a good statist position. Let's tax fat people, which would include many Americans. Then we'll move on to tax people that don't run 5 miles a day. You run only 4, you get taxed. Where does it end?
10 :
No. We will buy it anyways. I don't think any foods should be taxed.
11 :
Ah, the fat police are here.
12 :
Yes. If taxes are going to have to pay for the medical welfare program, the people who eat garbage should have to at least pay something. I say if we must raise taxes, we should raise taxes on booze, junk food and TV (promotes laziness).
13 :
you must be a liberal
14 :
Who are you to decide what is junk and what is not. Go chew your lettuce
15 :
not to COVER, but to HELP cover, sure
16 :
The first step on that slippery slope. How about mandatory exercise periods? And all that reality TV can't be good, why not show helpful, educational programs instead? Shouldn't cars all be the same size and weight? Think of how much money we could save on truama care if we eliminated the mismatch between SUVs and Priuses. And how about those deadly motorcycles? Surely I shouldn't have to be taxed more for someone else's reckless decisions. For that matter, skiing, diving, skydiving, rock climbing and roller blading seem excessive from a cost vs. benefit analysis. People can get plenty of exercise on their regulation treadmills during mandatory exercise periods. Welcome to Hope and Change.
17 :
No. I don't want to pay extra for the two candy bars I buy a year because of a bunch of fat @sses that can't control their diet and require government health care. been watching some south park leonel? lol
18 :
YES let's just tax everything! Continue to steal from peoples hard working wallets so we can pay for another stupid idea that will just put america in greater debt. Sounds like a plan It is real simple. Dont let the liberals muddy the water, confuse the issue and pull the wool over your (or other American's eyes). Health care is NOT A RIGHT. It is EARNED! You want it, then stay in school, go to work, and bust your rear like the rest of us. Health care is no more a right than "..we all should have the right to a new car.." or "...we all should have the right to a 60" plasma TV..." Since when did we become a nation of people that believe everything should be GIVEN to them? Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves! Government run health care?!! Are you kidding me? Where have you been? Look how the government runs the veteran's administration's healthcare program and you want them to run the healthcare of another 300 million people?? Tried to renew your driver's licence lately...liked the long line?...liked the rude lady on the other side of the glass?...ever applied for a student loan?...liked the 8 month waiting list? You gotta be crapping me? And now you want them to run your healthcare system? Folks, please listen...this is the age old battle between those that have and those that have not. Plain and simple. It is not fair that I ride my bike to work while my neighbor drives a Porche, therefore, we should sell his Porche and buy us both a used Chrysler. Does this make sense to you because that is what we are doing here. We are taking from those who decided early in life to get a clue, get an education, and get a freakin job...and we are giving it to those that decide to sit on their asses daily while the rest of us work 15 hrs a day. Last time I checked websters, it told me that this was STEALING.
19 :
This is America, land of the free. If I pay for my health insurance, and I pay my medical bills, I should be able to start an IV of McDonald's friggin' french fry grease in my veins and snort Twinkies and the government shouldn't have a damn thing to say about it. Edit: Louisiana State, will you marry me? Awesome answer.
20 :
Then they would just find something else to tax. Isn't it obvious enough yet that liberals and leftesticles don't care about health or the environment? All they care about is power and stealing money through taxes.
21 :
No! I'm taxed to death now! Junk food isn't going to kill me, taxes are!
22 :
No and we shouldn't tax cigarettes the way we are either. We shouldn't tax Gas either but we do. NO TO TAXATION!
23 :
Thanks for your concern. Not asked for, not needed. Why do people like you want so bad to manage the lives of others? Go jogging at dawm and clog up the road for people trying to get to work. Lets tax liberals for a change. Lets tax ACORN for every false Voter Registration they submit $10K.
24 :
Only if you're prepared to be adding the tax disproportionately onto the poor.
25 :
Yes. Liberals believe that people should Not have the Right to eat what they want. Government should decide what the peasants eat. However.... Liberals get their food from Welfare. Why not tax ugly people? Democrats want to Raise Taxes on Everything, because: "Democrats Care". How sweet is that, eh?
26 :
no.I don't drink or smoke let me have 1 vise.It has the 3 food bases. Not like a pork chop in a can.
27 :
what is with you liberals an all your taxes??? how much do you weigh? What kind of bread do you eat?How many miles do you run each day? Who are you to dictate what others should eat?
28 :
louisiana_state said it the best!!!!!
29 :
Why not? Next the Obama will want to tax people that blink their eyes too much. Just keep letting them take your freedoms away. Pretty soon we won't have any.
30 :
I went to a McDonald's tonight and saw all kinds of people eating there, not just fat ones. In fact, while I saw quite a few with ten to twenty extra pounds, no one was into plus sizes. None of the kids were overweight at all. So I stopped in at Burger King across the street, and it was the same story. Its not junk food, or we would all be carting our tummies in carts. I don't care if junk food is taxed, I rarely eat out, I'm a really good cook. But it seems to me that if you want to tax precooked foods then just call it a tax, even a dedicated tax, but don't snow people into thinking that you will be taxing ice cream and not vegetables and that will encourage better eating. Because the plan seems to be to just tax all the food. Oh and watch out for that sports tax, after all, fatties won't be breaking their necks out on the slopes, or their legs sky diving or getting bit by sharks scuba diving. Oh, and how about another tax on alcohol consumers, they do more damage than any overweight person. Drunks even kill sober people, no fat person ever forced food down a skinny person.
31 :
No, people have the right to eat whatever they choose. Even though we may not necessarily agree with they decisions, it truly is "their decision". And look at the bright side- population control.
32 :
Why don't we just tax ANYTHING the government thinks is not right. Please, you sound like a communist. Maybe we should tax you for every paragraph you type because you may get arthritis in your fingers, and this will encourage you to type less and live longer
