A question about health food options

A question about health food options?
For 3 years I've skipped lunch each day, which makes my day about 7 hours without eating anything from the moment I get up. Recently I've began to eat yogurt in the morning, but I still don't eat lunch. So I need some help. I need a food for lunch that will fill me up, is portable and does not require refrigeration or heating, is cheap and can be bought in bulk, and is healthy. Does anyone have any good ideas? I have to change my eating habits or I will severely hurt my metabolism.

Bring a sandwich. It can stay out for several hours and will be okay. Bring a tub of peanut butter, and a loaf of bread to work with a knife. Lunch for a week! You can even bring jelly, i don't think it needs to be kept in the fridge. You can also keep carrots, apples, grapes or many other fruits and vegetables at work, they are fine out of the fridge.
2 :
Granola bars, cereal, almonds, walnuts, etc
3 :
You could make a good "trail mix" of sorts. Include a variety of nuts, dried fruit and beef jerky. Fresh fruit is portable, and so are tortilla wraps (wrap some turkey in with some lettuce and mustard). String cheese will last you from the morning until lunch without refrigeration. Hopefully this helps. Kudos on changing your eating habits. You'll see a great change in energy!
4 :
If you were going to "severely hurt your metabolism", wouldn't it be done by now? If you're skipping lunch, then pick something. Sandwich, leftovers from last night, a salad in a Gladware bowl?
5 :
well, if you want to buy something in bulk, filling and give you nutrition: try "protein powder - whey protein " - they come in different flavour. you can add one scoop in about 250 ml of water or fruit juice. Just make sure you drink plenty of fluids as well.
6 :
First of all, you should be eating a big breakfast. If you start your day with a good (somewhat large), healthy meal, you will be much better off for the rest of the day, especially because you'll be eating a quick lunch. Now, as for lunch, a peanutbutter and jelly sandwhich is very healthy IF, and only if, you are using whole wheat bread, natural peanutbutter (Smuckers, not Jiff, for example), as well as natural, healthy jelly. Grab some fruit as well, and you're good to go

A Health Food Diet

A Health Food Diet?
I have made the leap to discontinue myself from eating fast food or any type of un-healthy food (chips, cookies, etc.). I'm already a lean guy, just want to have a chizzled body. Unfortunately, since i have cut these types of food from my diet, i don't know what to eat. Does anyone know any good health food diets, not for losing wieght but for muscle building or healthy eating. Thanks.

Diet & Fitness - 5 Answers

1 :
Try the slim fast health food diet.
2 :
Lean meats, fresh fruits and vegetables.
3 :
Lean meat, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats (plant oils and fish). If you want a specific diet look at the Body for Life plan by Bill Phillips, it is made for just this sort of thing. See the link below. http://www.bodyforlife.com/
4 :
Just buy a food pyramid. You'll need grain, protien, dairy, fruit, vegatables, and little fat.
5 :
Sounds as if a nutritional supplement would serve you well. I've been on the Cambridge Diet for weight loss for several months now, however, it is also used by many as a strong source of nutrition. 3 servings a day provide you with 100% of your body's daily vitamins, minerals and trace elements. If you had a serving of Cambridge before breakfast, lunch and supper your body would be provided with all of it's daily nutrients. Combine that with an already healthy lifestyle and you've got the makings of great success! Also, it comes in the form of oats, soups or shakes. If you have bad sweet tooth the shakes are delicious, are stimulant and preservative free and make for a great "treat". One cannister of 15 servings is only $22.65

Are there any health supplement that can stop my food cravings

Are there any health supplement that can stop my food cravings?
I see people who inadvertently set themselves up for a huge snack attack mid afternoon and I am one of them. I need to stop this as soon as possible to get back my normal weight and figure.

1 :
I know it's hard to find, but ephedra works great for cravings. You can also eat more complex carbs at lunch and for your snack, fruits and veggies with a bit of fiber and protein will keep you feeling full.
2 :
Anything you use over the counter to stop food cravings will set you up in the long run for health problems. It is not in anyone's best interest to do that. Basically all they do is speed your heart rate up to make you more energetic so you don't think about. Try drinking 8oz of water if you get a food craving. That will hold you off until your next meal. Even if you have to drink water all day long. Hopefully this helps.
3 :
Changing your eating habits is the only way this will work for anyone. Supplements are poorly regulated and have shown to have no long term effect. Food addiction is a difficult and complex issue. I know I battle it everyday. Try, at the time of your snack to take an apple or other healthy snack and go for a walk. Or second, prepare a snack (moderate amount) on a plate. Cheese, fruit etc. when you are not hungry. When the snack time hits, take the prepared snack and eat it. When we are hungry it is the worst time to prepare. Cheers,
4 :
Keep a big bottle of water handy all throughout the day. I never used to drink water during the day, and I always used to snack! Now, I vowed to quit snacking, and whenever I feel the urge, I drink some water. This always helps. Sometimes when you think you have a food craving, you are just thirsty for water. You might be bored--taking the drink of water gives you a moment to think, "Am I really hungry or in need of food?" I eat only 3 meals per day and I do not snack. I used to snack ALL THE TIME. To quit, I started to count calories, and stuck to it. Once you realize the value of a calorie, you won't be tempted to mess up your daily caloric count. I also kept that bottle of water, and bought healthy snacks (removed all unhealthy temptations from my house--replaced with fat free yogurt, and veggies and fruits)
5 :
its easier than you think, try the total control and snack defense tablets from herbalife, they will cut all the cravings you have but you can eat your other meals as normal. They also have great healthy snacks for in between meals if you really cant stop yourself ,s o at least you snack healthy. The tablets will definitely work for you though. try myhealthabcmall.com and they are on there, cant remember under which tab they come under but they are easy to find. I get six months supply at one go so I dont have shipping and handling costs each month. good luck

his wife you mean. umm probably trying to take all fast foods away, somehow he will say fast food is detremental to the economy because people are becoming obese and cannot afford the medical payments and will take over the companies and diminish them
3 :
I'm hoping this health food czar is here to replace food stamps with actual food itself so the system can't be abused and that those that are living on the system will be required to not blow it on bad choices. My guess is that this isn't what he is going to do.
4 :
those darn czars! go back to russia where sarah palin can keep an eye on ya!
5 :
Forcing fat America to stop eating grease by the bucket full in order to not overload Obamacare. The bible warned about all this. Get ready.
6 :
Not a thing. He appointed his chef to a new position and the silly right wing propaganda machine attached the "czar" label to him since they think it is fun to do that. It gets their mentally-slow base all worked up and gets them ratings. That is the only thing this silly story is about. The right wing being disingenuous and dishonest -- again!
7 :
Why are you calling obama a czar while at the same time calling him a marxist, seeing as one is far left, and the other is right in the fact they were a monarchy.
8 :
I'm sure that whetever it is, the GOP will say that they oppose it.
9 :
They are taking away my twinkies all due to Obama Care..They should outlaw tabbaco so Obama is breaking the law.
10 :
0bama promises all things to all people. The only fair way to judge him is by the outcome of his actions. So far, judging by the outcome of his actions this is his agenda Spend the USA into bankruptcy Tax the USA into slavery Maintain political power no matter who it hurts. Divide the country into easily intimidated factions. Remove traditional Christian values from government, and replace it with immorality Let Islamic terrorists romp in the ruins. So, going from his agenda we must assume it will: 1) - Increase taxes 2) - cost a fortune, 3) - Blackmail the poor into voting for Democrats. 4) - Give free food to some and make others pay for it with higher grocery prices 6) - Make people now working in fast food establishments lose their jobs. 7) - promote more animosity between the new poor and those who have to pay. 8) - Increase envy, This will all happen under the disguise of making people eat more healthy.
11 :
This is just more government intrusion into our lives. Now that we have government run health care we need a food czar to tell us what we can and cannot eat. This is only the beginning. I like - homeschool's answer
12 :
Quick! Run! Here comes the new fat czar with a tape measure! First, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has decreed that a new federal database, mandated by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, must include every American's BMI, or Body Mass Index, as part of an all-encompassing EHR, or Electronic Health Record. Vladimir Lenin in his prime couldn't have thought this up, but here we are a century later, in the Land of the Free, not just subjecting ourselves to this encroachment on our individual liberty but cheerfully voting to pay for it. BMI is the relative percentage of fat and muscle mass divided by height, and it is used as an indicator of obesity. Experts dispute its accuracy but, don't tell the federal government, because after 234 years of not giving a hoot, said government now has discovered a compelling and overriding need to add your BMI to its commodious collection of statistics. Don't want it in there? Too bad. Doctors who don't comply will have their Medicare and Medicaid payments cut, which eventually could put them out of business. This is the latest assault on the real right to privacy - What happened to a simpler era when the purpose of government was to protect us from foreign invaders, rather than tell us what to eat and how many inches of our middles Secretary Sebelius has to pinch before we are in trouble. In the other news, the current occupiers of the White House have upgraded the title of their personal cook, Sam Kass, from "food initiative coordinator" to "senior policy adviser for health food initiatives." Ostensibly hired as a nutrition-conscious chef to make the Obama daughters eat their vegetables, Kass is actually a graduate of the University of Chicago with a degree in American history and shares many social acquaintances with the Obamas, including senior adviser Valerie Jarrett and Education Secretary Arne Duncan. "Kass has definitely learned the ways of Washington. He is generally tight-lipped and careful to frame what he says in terms of Obama's vision," Politico.com reports. http://www.politico.com/click/stories/0910/sam_kass_cooks_up_policy.html Kass, who works with Jocelyn Frye, domestic policy adviser to Michelle Obama, doesn't seem exactly sure of what a "senior policy adviser for health food initiatives" is supposed to do to merit that undoubtedly healthy – salary. "It's been a challenge to figure out my position," he admits. Michelle Obama's efforts to insert government between your fork and your mouth will lead to a federal Department of Food someday. Why does an unelected first lady need a "domestic policy adviser," much less a "senior policy adviser for health food initiatives"? Who is this history major/veggie cook from the lefty university, really? Will he stay in the kitchen or soon emerge as our first national fat czar? Why is the Obama administration so intent on obtaining the BMI numbers of millions of Americans, most of whom are independently – or through their private insurance companies – paying their own medical bills? What does it plan to do with this information once it is obtained? So put your database away, Mr. President. If my headache gets bad enough I'll just go to the doctor and it won't be your problem. No, wait – in a single-payer system I won't be able to do that, either. Well, I mean … I'll fill out the applicable forms and ask if I may put my name on a waiting list … if I meet the qualifications. o_O

well if anything with meat isn't healthy unless they drain the fat out, but still meat is fating. for breakfast scrambled eggs are good as long as the egg came from a good healthy chicken but usually they get it from a good chicken they wouldn't sell scrambled eggs from a unhealthy chicken. be sure to get water with the food you can also get another drink with water but take couple sips of water before the meal ( cuz the water goes in the stomach and mixes with the acid in your stomach which is called fatty acid and so your stomach is ready to eat). i hope i helped :D

Buy cheese and bread and fruit and milk and all other fresh stuff for the super markets and and make your own quick delicious stuff at home. Its cheaper than going to a resturant and its quick and healthy. Pack in loads of stuff into your brown bread sandwich or make your own sub in minutes. Yummy. Eating out is a rip off and a waste of cash and time.
2 :
Best source to find any price range and different types of cuisine (restaurants), ger a reveiw of the restaurant and many times even see what the menu & decor look like is www.opentable.com. It totally works we always use this site when we travel & are always amazed how seamlessly it works... good luck and bon apetit

a lot of processed food has artificial flavoring and additives and it causes stress on the liver to process these artificial and non-natural chemicals. Too much stress on the liver could eventually lead to cancer. I'm not too sure about corn but I believe its pretty hard to digest.
2 :
Well beans are the comedic relief. I think corn has the main role, though

i have the same problem sprite and junk food but i wish i new
2 :
you just have to quit the junk all together after a month you wont even like junk food another thing you can do is look up the calories or nutrition value on some of your favorit foods it will discust you
3 :
your body is going to naturally crave sweet things, theres nothing you can do about it. in order to crave healthy foods you need to actually enjoy eating healthy foods... otherwise you need to find something somewhere in the middle of sweet and healthy to munch on. Changing your diet takes years, not weeks.
4 :
i so kno what you mean!! well. the more junk food you eat the more you'll crave it. Fats and oils make your body think you want more - so you crave it. You have to discipline yourself to only eat health food for a while. Over a bit of time as your body gets used to you not eating the junk food it will forget about it, and just want to eat the healthy yummy food! (: GOOD LUCK!
5 :
thats true you do have to quit, but no matter what it is not going to be easy... If you have extreme will power then you can do it! but other than that do it in moderation.. eat healthy, then once in a while cheat.. you do this enough and you will be set.. like eat more and more healthy, and less and less junk... soon you will be disgusted by the nasty stuff.. I swear if i think about McDonald i get nauseous
6 :
find some healthy foods that you really like and it will make you want to eat them more often..100 calorie packs and fat free pringles are good snacks...chicken and fish can replace beef, and there is also low fat and sugar free icecream and other deserts that are good..the skinny cow icecreams are just as good as regular! the icecream sandwiches are the best!
7 :
I don't think you will ever healthy food like you do junk food, but I think if you change the way you think of junk food you can ease your craving and fill up on the good stuff. For me I started reading about why we should be eating healthy food and what the bad stuff does to us. And then I started thinking of how unnatural most of junk food is, I mean have you look at the ingredients? What is some of that? I've read some scary stuff, how they link alot of the ingredients to cancer and diabetes it turned me off. Now,hot dogs are gross, chips and soda, are like putting hair spray and crayons into my body... because it's like junk food isn't even food to me..it's just junk

Heating food in Microwave oven before eating is good for health

Heating food in Microwave oven before eating is good for health?
I bring my lunch to work and keep it in the refrigerator. Before having the same in the afternoon I heat the same in microwave oven for two to three minutes and consume immedeately. I heard from one of my friend that as the food in Microwave oven gets direct electric heat, there is a chance of developing cancer from it. Is this true?? Please give me your valuable answers.
Diet & Fitness - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Microwave ovens don’t make foods radioactive. They just heat them. Microwave ovens heat food by producing radiation which is absorbed by water molecules in the food. This makes the water molecules vibrate and produce heat, which cooks the food. Any modern day microwave oven in good condition is perfectly safe as long as you follow the instructions for use. If you use a microwave oven in the correct way there is no known harmful effect on humans. But people still tend to worry. Understanding the different types of radiation may help to reassure you that cooking in a microwave is not dangerous and won’t cause cancer. Although microwaves are safe to use it is important to point out that cooking in them can affect the nutritional value of some foods – for example, fruit and vegetables. But nutrients are lost when heating foods in any way – boiling, grilling, frying or even steaming. The Food Standards Agency (an independent food safety watchdog set up by the Government) say that the amount of nutrients lost when cooking with a microwave is similar to other cooking methods. As long as you don't overcook foods, microwaving can actually be quite a healthy way to cook, as it uses only a little water. The best way to keep as many nutrients as possible in fruit and vegetables is to use as little water as you can and not overcook them.
2 :
The only reason I have ever heard about microwaving your food involves the plastic container and the plastic wrap or lid covering your food. Apparently the microwave causes toxins to be released from the plastic. The toxins are bad for you. It was recommended to me to remove the food from the plastic container and put it on a real dish (glass etc), and just cover with another plate

MSG as a food ingredient has been the subject of some health concerns. A report from the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) compiled in 1995 on behalf of the FDA concluded that MSG was safe for most people when “eaten at customary levels.” However, it also said that, based on anecdotal reports, some people may have an MSG intolerance which causes worsening of asthmatic symptoms. While many people believe that monosodium glutamate (MSG) is the cause of these symptoms, an association has never been demonstrated under controlled conditions, even in studies with people who were convinced that they were sensitive to the compound.Adequately controlling for experimental bias includes a placebo-controlled double-blinded experimental design and the application in capsules because of the strong and unique after-taste of glutamates. see this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_restaurant_syndrome

If Health care is free, What about Food , Clothing and Shelter

If Health care is free, What about Food , Clothing and Shelter?
Basic shelter, for walls and a roof against the weather. At least to spend a night with dignity. Simple food. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, tang. It would return dignity to people. Solar heated shower would not cost a lot to run. This set up would not deter people from working, I am sure. I am 55 yrs and always been socially conscious. Homelessness as a lifestyle did not exist in America until Reagan. The first wave were the mentally ill, released from care and unable to fend for themselves.
Government - 13 Answers

1 :
It is pathetic that anyone would expect to be kept like you suggest. Your parents brought you into the world. Look to them to keep you in comfort. If you want to help someone, go for it. I help those I choose to help. God help us.
2 :
It would never be FREE. Why can't you understand that? Do you know what taxes are - there is no such thing as FREE health care. I won't even get into the FACT that there were homeless people long before Reagan ever became president.
3 :
there is housing and shelters to sleep in there are soup kitchens and churches that give out free meals there are showers at the parks in short, those things are more available than health care
4 :
Hey better yet, at least till obama took over, jobs were free! Wait, they were BETTER than free, they actually paid you money! Its a long time ago and you youngsters may not be able to recall, but once upon a time , way back BO (before obama) jobs were plentyful. We had kind of a lame president, but he only deficit spent $350 billion or so per year. Then we became the obamination. No more jobs, no more stable inflation, gas thru the roof, and deficit spending of $1.6 Trillion per year.
5 :
Health care will never be free.
6 :
I am afraid your argument will fall on deaf ears. You are correct that massive homelessness was the fall out of Reagan's failed programs. Unfortunately dignity, integrity and compassion are not held in high esteem in this country.
7 :
Homelessness did not start with Reagan. It grew somewhat when he closed mental hospitals in California as governor. There was a slight rise during his eight years as president because of the welfare policies that made it actually profitable to be homeless. This bubble was mostly artificial, as there were benefits available to the homeless that encouraged people to claim the state. That said, there have always been shelters and programs to house and feed the homeless. There were soup kitchens and tent cities in the 30's, squatters before that. There are now, and have always been some who live either off the generosity of society, take what they want when they want it, or simply get by on what they can make and grow for themselves
8 :
That's the way a liberal or socialist thinks: people earn money just to give it away to other people. It's fine if you want to give to charity but when the government forces you to give away your money, it's called THEFT. What happens when the money earners decide they want free stuff too and they stop working? What happens when no one makes any money?
9 :
Of course not , that's what it make this country great ,help the ones in need . People will use this benefits until they can settle down that it is the purpose , after all we are not domestic cattle , we are humans been with soul and minds. God bless America
10 :
Everything should be free, ie there should be free access to what has been produced by society. This would put an end to poverty and to the waste of the money system (millions of people doing unproductive work in banks, insurance companies, etc).
11 :
No food and clothing should not be paid by taxpayer dollars. One of the goals in closing large psychiatric institutions was to stop the abuse suffered by citizens confined in these facilities. The institutions became overstretched, untherapeutic, isolated in location and neglectful in practice. It would stand to reason that, over time, taxpayer paid health care, food, clothing and shelter, completely run by government would see similar problems.
12 :
Right on brother!! Well said and a god damn good question. We don't even need to build any shelters! Do you know how many vacant homes and offices we have in America that just sits and the food once again do you know how much food is wasted everyday in America? All the Restaurants, Stores, Fast food and you and me. This is a very easy thing to do for free but just like our government we look at the homeless like a newence and we need a place to hide them "BUT WAIT...... Not in our backyard where we can see them" This would work and really brother thank you for bringing this up to peoples attention to stop and think
13 :
We do try to provide for those that can't provide for themselves. We don't leave our wounded behind. Nobody is talking about HEALTH CARE, free or otherwise. The issue is HEALTH INSURANCE...more specifically a non-profit HEALTH INSURANCE company paid for with premium dollars the same as any other insurance company. Why the ditto-heads, teabaggers and right wing radio talk show dummies don't get that is a major mystery

Is it true that micro oven made food is harmful to health, why

Is it true that micro oven made food is harmful to health, why?

Cooking & Recipes - 16 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
no. people think that the radiation emitted by microwaves is harmful... not true. Microwaves use radio waves, which are absorbed by the water, fats, and sugars in food. When these waves are absorbed, they are only converted into atomic motion, or heat. They don't turn the food radioactive. Every cooking method destroys the nutrients in food, but "since microwave ovens use less heat than other methods and have cooking times, they have the least destructive effects." (Based on a study conducted by Cornell University) See the link for the full article.
2 :
no it uses microwaves that wont stay on food. It just uses the heat to make food hot.
3 :
is it? probably becuase these microscopic waves are heating the food and doing something to it
4 :
Yes it's true, Because of radiation poisening. You're not going to die or anything, but yes. It's a form of poison.
5 :
no
6 :
Hon...every house in America has a microwave (well, most). If they were harmful they would have been recalled long ago. It isn't THAT the food is microwaved, it's what the container is made of that can make it dangerous. You're never supposed to microwave in styrofoam or plastic, and of course metal will start things sparking, but the chemicals of some containers bleed into the food if you cook in them.
7 :
i have heard that bc of the waves it emits...but i also heard from a cook on tv that it is not as harmful is they make it seem bc microwaves are always around us so yeah...personally i only reheat stuff in the microwave and cook in the stove
8 :
No it's the ingredients which can be bad. check them, like any food you eat. cheap ones usually contain added flavourings and colours which arn't the best. you can get some really good micro meals nowadays.
9 :
yes. just don't put plastic tuperware in there either
10 :
NO The micro waves make the molecules vibrate causing heat inside the food. This cooks the food like any other type of heat.
11 :
No. Microwaved food is considered cooking by steam. The waves vibrate the water molecules creating steam. And, steam is one of the healthier cooking styles
12 :
No, it's the container that you put the food in if it's anything.
13 :
Don't listen to them! Yes! Microwave heated food CAN damage you! The radiation in the food CAN give you cancer. Scientist believe that they are build so good, that the food can't harm you to much, but that's also why they build that hard glass on the microwaves, so you won't get the radiation directly.
14 :
No.
15 :
the ovens themselves, no, but whatever that is they use to "artificially butter flavor" micro popcorn is apparently having adverse effects on the health of mfg. plant workers.
16 :
definitely not true.

Catholics covered in tattoos.....? You sure you don't mean bikers?
2 :
lol i never heard of that. Im a vegetarian, who smokes and have tattoo's. But im certainly not a catholic, never heard that aspect brought into it before. I can see the question, why do people who look after their health ruin it
3 :
Satan takes particular delight in deceiving the very devout. We need to pray for each other.
4 :
What are you saying? Doesn't make sense, tattoos, health food freaks, drugs and catholics?
5 :
Some people are vegetarians/vegans for moral, not health, reasons. I fit into that category. "Eat well, exercise, die anyway." .
6 :
I cant really understand your questions but to clear some facts.. I am a non-vegetarian. I dont drink soy milk, I dont drink any milk for that fact! I just hate it! I am not really into healthy food, although I should be. I eat a lot of junk including chips and chocolates. Again I dont practice yoga yet, I just bought a book yesterday on it actually.. I am Catholic. I hardly drink, very occasionally, and only wine. I dont do drugs at all, and neither do I smoke (I quit smoking completely) I do not hang out at coffee stores, neither do I drink coffee. If I did enter a coffee store (happens once in 6 months) I would have a chocolate pastry. I have two tattoos, both hidden and personal.. Although the one on my shoulder can be seen when I wear sleeveless.. I had no clue what gauges were, I heard of them a number of times but never was attentive to know what they meant

What is the food that is imprtant and useful for sex health and growth

What is the food that is imprtant and useful for sex health and growth ?
About all kinds of natural food that is imprtant for the sexual organs .

People are going to tell you all sorts of bogus and weird aphrodesiacs and what not. Some of them have merrit no doubt, but often is mild in effect and a large quantity would have to be consumed. That being said, I'll give the best advice I can. Water! Water is one of the most important aspect of sexual performance!! Im not going to get to the knitty gritty, but proper hydration is so important that I cannot even begin to tell you. As for sexual organ growth (penis, being in the male section)? It's a muscle, gotta work it out bub.
2 :
Healthy diet and exercise will keep you strong and give you stamina. Until they can figure out how to manipulate genes and DNA your going to get what ever size you get. No pill, ointment or anything else short of surgery is going to change that. Even surgery can only give very limited results. Anything else no matter how good it sounds is crap and their taking you for your money

If I opened a health food fast food drive through do you think I could make a lot of money

If I opened a health food fast food drive through do you think I could make a lot of money?
It could serve fresh greens and baked chicken, salads, stir fries.etc, Why don't we have this already? They can be fast if it is made ahead of time. There are ways to do anything. This idea is possible. 1 minute in grease is not the only way to thaw out food.

Maybe :]
2 :
Because they aren't "fast". If you DO make stuff up ahead of time, and you don't sell it, you could be looking at a lot of waste. And if it sits around waiting for someone to come by and buy it, it won't be very fresh. Actually, the idea is a good one, but unfortunately "health food" and "fast food" are oxymorons. No, I didn't mean oxymorons. I meant they just don't go together.
3 :
If it was cheap
4 :
I would go there!
5 :
I would love it! Use field greens instead of that awful iceberg lettuce everyone else uses!
6 :
YUM! Oh my gosh, I'd be your best customer. Stir Fry <3
7 :
Good question!! I am sure you would do great!!
8 :
only if you super sized everything
9 :
Go for it! Sounds great.
10 :
I think it's a great idea, wish it existed here!
11 :
possibly depends on the city or area. like a bigger city maybee
12 :
yeah b/c i dont think there are any!
13 :
I would use it.
14 :
yes
15 :
if you served vegetarian/vegan food as well, i would so go! like a pita and hummus wrap and stir fri with tofu... mmm heck yes
16 :
Yes, if you did it right. But it could be tricky to make a profit and maintain fresh, quality ingredients. Your prices would have to be slightly higher than typical fast food. Also, it would take longer to prepare good food. If it were that easy it wouldve been done. Maybe you should just open a deli. Good luck!
17 :
only if is fast and you have a 99 cent menu.......they should have this already, ill wait a bit longer to eat healthier....
18 :
I have thought this sooooo many times! I don't know why it doesn't exist, because it really could be fast. I think maybe the reason is that fresth produce doesn't last long and it would be too much waste. Maybe we should go into business together...LOL! :)
19 :
Actually Yes, that is truly a great idea and I wish you the best on your possible endeavor. Waiting a few more minutes won't bother anyone today with all the texting/phoning/ipod'ing one can do while bored in the car, of course, when not driving. And try to position it near a gym or medical office. Go for it.
20 :
Depends. If you could keep the prices down you could make a go of it. Money is tight for a lot of people right now and it is easier for some to just get the $.99 double cheeseburger and $1.00 fry. I think location would make a difference too. Either coast it would fly. But in the midwest you are dealing with meat and potato people. They eat vegetables but it is usually pretty simple
21 :
That's how the market place works. Mostly it's what will sell to the public as a whole...a majority. Subway is about as close as we come to something like that, but their menu is limited to just subs. I think it would be nice to have a place to quickly order something on the go that is healthy and not 100 grams of fat or loaded with sugar. Good idea!!!
22 :
sounds good to me
23 :
no
24 :
id come
25 :
JUst ask Clarke Nutrition and Whole Foods why they haven't done it yet. I'm sure if they could figure out a way to make it profitable they would have done it. But all power to you. Put one up in Palm Springs and I'll be there at LEAST once a month. :-) Peace
26 :
You might, but I think there are more people who would rather buy the normal fast food. I am not one of those people.
27 :
HI MY GOOD FRIEND, DEFINETLY IT WILL WORK
28 :
they have somthing like this in london... called pret a manger (ready to eat in french) anyway, i wouldnt call all of it healthy, but its difinetly better than mickeyds...theyve got sandwiches and like all fresh. made that morning. a lot are mayo based...but they have some really good ones without all the fat.. i went on vacation there for 2 weeks and i think that was like half our meals..they have more of thtem than miceyds..imean like if u stand on a corner of a busy street in the city, you can see at least 2. theres that many. i miss it alot=/
29 :
It sounds like a good idea but certainly needs a lot more research before you go any further with it...
30 :
ya there alot of people who go crazy over staying healthy and thin im sure you could
31 :
yes if they taste great and have good location with good service

Does microwave cooking cause any health hazard to food

Does microwave cooking cause any health hazard to food ??
Eager to know about the hazards, if any, of microwave cooking
Vegetarian & Vegan - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The only thing I can think of is that microwaves destroy vitamin B-12 in food. This is especially important to know if you are a vegetarian or have had gastric bypass surgery as you will likely need supplements and cannot count on your food providing B-12 if you use a microwave regularly. Keep clear if you have a pacemaker, as it can go wonky while a m/w oven is running. Otherwise, there's no radiation or other problems like that.
2 :
whoa okay, first of all to the girl that posted above me, learn your facts, thats all a microwave is is radiation...
3 :
Yes indeed. It zaps alot of the nutrition from foods by superheating them-natural food enzymes are destroyed at temperatures above 117 degrees. Also, WHAT you microwave the food in has a big impact-if you microwave in plastic containers, the PCB's and other chemicals can leach into the food. Its best to microwave in glass containers, if at all. A counter top steamer is a great alternative-not quite as fast, but it preserves more nutrients.
4 :
It has no hazard to you, if that's what you mean. The only thing that you may consider harmed from microwaved food is the torture to your taste buds.
5 :
no
6 :
yes

Which is more important, the taste of food or the health benefits? Why?

Health must come first. Unfortunately, for many Americans it does not. We consume far too much hydrogenated oils, which can be found in everything from baked goods to bouillon.
2 :
For an adult should be the health benefits, but for a child or a baby surely is the taste.
3 :
both ! you can make tasty meals and there can still be healthy, all it takes is low fat NOT NO FAT
4 :
I say I can have BOTH. There is a way to eat healthy good tasting food.
5 :
It's entirely possible to have extremely healthy food which tastes delicious. So I don't see that it has to be an either/or thing!
6 :
Both are absolutely necessary, however I'd have to say taste must come first, since I won't eat something that tastes nasty no matter how healthy it may be, but every now and then I'm willing to compromise on the healthiness a little to eat a treat that tastes really really good

If i eat junk food everyday am i increasing health problems when i get older?
I know someone who constantly eats chips, cookies on a daily basis and now i'm starting to become like them. But i still try to eat fruits and vegetables.

probably not... all i eat is junk food i absolutely hate all veggys and never eat any of them i'm fine...sure im a lazy couch potato but thats just because i sit around all day and never excercise
2 :
Depends on what you eat and how much...those foods certainly aren't conducive to good health and depending on how genetically predisposed you are to particular health issues, it could have a negative effect down the road. Junk food is okay on occasion. Most of us enjoy a treat now and then...just don't make that kind of food part of your regular diet. There's really no benefit in it other than the pleasure of the taste, but that's often not worth the work it takes to get the pounds off that it adds, or do undo any negative health effects it may cause later in life.
3 :
Try workout ,But getting old is heredity and in the genes ...there are families that looks older than there age and there are ones who look younger than there age
4 :
gallstones, obesity and high cholesterol all come to mind! keep it up with the fruit and veggies, you may find your tastes change as you age as well.
5 :
There is certainly a correlation between your diet and risk of health problems.
6 :
It's okay to indulge once in a while. I enjoy having a bowl of ice cream about once a week. But to do it on a daily basis is a very bad and dangerous habit. The reason America is full of so many obese people is because of their eating habits. Eating fruits and vegetables won't help balance out all the excess sugar and fat you are putting into your body. The key is moderation.
7 :
you will never see 70

is cooking food in olive oil is good for health or bad ? I use to cook vegetables in olive oil is it healthy

is cooking food in olive oil is good for health or bad ? I use to cook vegetables in olive oil is it healthy?
I am overweight some 4-6 kg . I want to loose weigth . If i will cook food in olive oil will it help me to loose some pounds?

all i know is that olive oil is one of the few 'good' oils
2 :
The phrase overweight spells out varying things to varying people. It's a good idea to set off at the beginning, and establish whether you are really overweight for your size or not, by computing your BMI (Body Mass Index). You can learn how to do it at the site in the box below, they have lots of tips, I lost 8 pounds by following their tips.
3 :
What I can say is – olive oil is clearly one of the ‘good’ oil. Regarding your question “Can olive oil help to weight loss?”, even though a lot of researches have been conducted on this topic, but there are many uncertainties until now. Therefore, my advice is – focus on eating more fruits and vegetables every day. Anyway, I would still recommend starting out by substituting any fatty condiments and cooking you do with olive oil.
4 :
Oil, regardless of type is 900 calories per 100g, like lard! Olive oil is one of the better oils to use as it is lower in saturated fats and therefore less likely to clog up your arteries unlike Lard. But to lose weight, reduce your calories. If you take in more calories than you spend during exercising you will put on weight.
5 :
Olive oil and olive leaf extract are GREAT for you! Look at this special report at Life Extension Foundation: http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2010/jan2010_The-Secret-Behind-The-Mediterranean-Diet_01.htm Of particular interest to someone who is headed toward diabetes, note that the main polyphenol in olive oil, oleuropein, protects the beta cells in the pancreas from destruction (as occurs in diabetes). Oleuropein is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and it lowers risk of cancer, diabetes, bone loss, and heart disease. But do not think you are protected from anything if you use olive oil at home but eat out a lot. I take olive leaf extract, 1 g./day and I can feel the difference

health food obsession

health food obsession?
i am always thinking about food, but i only eat healthy and i am not overweight if anything underweight. all i think about it that at 4:00 ill eat a bowl of fruit and so on. i dont know how to keep from thinking about health and food. i go to a nutritionist and am getting a balanced meal every meal and all of that but i dont know what to do. Help?

If you are eating healthy, and your weight is healthy, and you are getting enough sleep, food, fluids, and exercise, then the main problem would be thinking too much about food. Maybe eating a bit of the fruit (for example) when you first start thinking about it, and then some at 4:00 like you planned would help. It's ok to give yourself treats, it won't mean you are eating unhealthy or that you are undisciplined. If all fails, a counselor or doctor can help you figure out healthier ways to eat and live without obsessing. :-)
2 :
I think this only becomes a "real problem" if you form a n eating disability such as anorexia or bulimia. There is nothing wrong with you. Everyone has something they focus on or "obsess over" . For me, its my social circle. I HAVE to check myspace, facebook or deviant art EVERY DAY to keep up with everything

fresh fruits, fresh veggies, salad. plenty of water, cut out the pop and processed foods. if you want prepared foods do diet frozen meals - lean cuisine or weight watchers items. even slim fast is fine.
2 :
Canned tuna, whey protien, oatmeal, brown rice, wheat bread, chicken breast, any and all vegetables (fat free dressing if anything), almonds, granola (not those uber-sugar bars, just all natural granola, great with dried fruit)
3 :
Slim Fast Shakes are great. You can buy the mix which lasts a lot longer too.

Why didn't loving LA liberals help bus the AZ illlegals to CA & provide the illegals with food + health care?

Politics - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
We have enough illegals in California, we do not need anymore. I wish this state would pass a similar law to arizona
2 :
I thought AZ wanted to fix the illegal immigration problem so kindly explain how does this fixes illegal immigration problem ?
3 :
I can think of two possible reasons... 1. Liberals tend to be much more generous with other people's money than their own. 2. They think this is a good political issue them. i.e. calling Republicans racist for supporting the AZ law. If there weren't any illegals left in AZ the law would be irrelevant and they'd lose what they believe is a good issue for them.
4 :
Because as 'tolerant' as they want to appear, deep down they know DIEversity is wrong. That's why liberals live in 90% white areas like the Pacific NorthWest

Oh... I wouldn't know this...

It's not one food item but a balanced diet. Too much of any one group of foods is not adequate for our nutritional requirements. So you have to source your good quality protein , carbs (as few from sugars as you can handle) fibre - very important , and eat plenty fruit and veg for antioxidant action and vitamins and minerals. You can do this as a vegetarian,it just takes some looking around and not falling for any marketing gimmicks. The best diet is the one that suits you and you can afford - and eat it daily with no adverse effects to your health http://gnhealth.com/vegdiet_part1.htm
