Is this a survey? Not that it matters to me but it sounds like you're doing research or something? I find it's actually cheaper to buy healthy food than it is junk food. Look at this way....do third world countries have chips, cookies, ice cream and Kraft dinner kicking around? Or are they eating lots of fruits and vegetables plus whatever game is available? I know you're going to say "but they grow and hunt their food" and you're right, but they also have their own markets and bartering systems that we here call "grocery stores" where we buy food from "people who grow or raise food".....capish? I myself, to answer your question can afford healthy food cause fruits and veggies are way cheaper than chips, cookies and junk in general. I'm 44, I live in a city with a population of approximately 85,000 people, I'm a college graduate and I own a teaching and training company. Hope this info helps and good luck with your research

supposedly it is good for your cardiovascular system and increasing your metabolism. Believe it or not it can also help with acid reflux. I love "cayenne tea"... cayenne pepper (to taste) in warm water or tomato juice. YUM.
5 :
Spicy foods increase your endorphins, which are the brain chemicals that make you feel good. Also, if you have nasal congestion, spicy foods will open your nasal passages so you can breathe easier

I am very much into health food; however, I am out a lot /what fast foodc restaurants or food would be good?
(I know subway is pretty good but don't have much money..I don't usually eat meat that is not freerange and salad isn't that filling so far..I mostly eat salad, baked potatoes, and occasionally bean burrito (but they use bread flour and lard in the refried beans..any other suggestions.this is when I usually mess up my healthy diet..so ? one--food tat I can eat when out shopping etc. and 2l.Also looking for suggestions of foods that are filling, healthy, and cheap, and that I can make or get at store quickly for movies (I have a giant purse I sneak stuff in). Ususally go spur of moment and haven't eaten all day so starving. that should read white flour not bread flour

McDonald's Mandarin Chicken Salad. Also any salad that does not have a fattening dressing or fried meat.
2 :
Go for the grilled chicken breast sandwich minus the mayo. Most places have their version of the chicken sandwich. Also tries Wendy's baked potato (minus all the extra crap) and it's pretty filling and not to bad for you.
3 :
Fast food is notorious for not being healthy, so you'd probaby be better off to shop at a convienince store. No, not the hot dogs and nachos, but they usually have a small selection of deli salads etc. Also try going to the grocery store, they often have a deli counter that makes sandwiches and are cheaper than subway. But if you have to go to fast food, they have a limited selection of healthier alternatives. Get a grilled chicken sandwich and remove the bun.
4 :
you can get a subway veggie delight or what another person said a salad from mcdonolds
5 :
mcdonalds ,salads they also have low cal dressing, low fat dressing ,parefete, there icecream is low fat.fruit salad, griled chicken is steamed

Long John Silvers, fried fish, fried french fries, fried hush puppies!!!!!

How about a Schozsky's 3 carb Chicken Ceasar Wrap..it contain more calories, but lo carb. A small Arby's roast beef and eat only 1/2 the bun. Go to a grocery store and check and see if there deli has fresh made sandwiches... you can then grab lo fat chips, fruit and a drink. A deli size sandwich from subway is cheaper than the 6' and it is only a little over a dollar,, and that is about as cheap as they come.. \ Go to the dollar menu and choose a small salad from Wendy's.. but that won't keep u until dinner. For the movies, you can get some crackers.. or make a sandwich and bring chips from home. Go to Chick Fila and order a grill sandwich and eat only 1/2 of the bun w/ the chicken. (That's funny that you mentioned sneaking something in.. because that is one thing I am going to do when I lose my 30lbs. I just told my husband that I was going to buy a container of Ben/Jerry's icecream ,,which I haven't ever had, and eat it during the movies~~~ which will i guess defeat the purpose of losing weight// !! But ,, u can also pop some healthy type popcorn in your microwave at home and eat that during the movie.

Is it fair for someone to sue a fast food company and blame them for their obesity or poor health

Is it fair for someone to sue a fast food company and blame them for their obesity or poor health?

1 :
no they chose to but the food and eat it
2 :
I don't think its fair to a fast food company. I mean people go to these places and eating by choice. The companies arn't forcing them to go and eat 50 burgers at on time...
3 :
no way man !!! We make those choices about what we put in out mouth...It is our fault not theirs
4 :
Who do you blame when the kid is too fat... The mother and the father....
5 :
no - they didn't force a person to buy the food. It was done of his or her own free will
6 :
They choose to eat it so it's not the selling companies fault. Though they are running scared of being scared, that's why McDogburgers changed their menu.
7 :
no because the nutrition labels are on their website. Also, you were not obligated to go there and eat.
8 :
Suing anyone for anything is usually a bunch of crap! There are very few reasonable causes for a law suit. If you are referring to the business world, then between businesses there is a completely different set of rules that makes litigation simply a routine part of the business world culture. Unfortunately, people have become stupid about suing each other.
9 :
I don't feel that anyone should be allowed to sue a fast food company because they are over weight or in poor health. No one from the fast food place told them to eat their food all the time, or how ever often "they" chose to. We all make our own decisions on the things we eat and don't eat. If a person is unhealthy and they chose to eat the wrong foods then they are the one to blame. Not the companies that are selling the food.
10 :
stop spending your freaking money on fast food and eat some healthy foods and get up off your lazy ass and exercise
11 :
I dont feel it is fair. Fast food restauraunts provide a service that we can either accept or pass up. We are responsible for our decisions and choices. If they lied about fat content or calories etc... that is an entirely different issue in which the fast food companies should be held accountable. Otherwise if we choose to eat fast food,we chose to deal with the consequences-point blank.
12 :
No it is not fair to sue a fast food company... they are in business to sell fast foods...it is up to the individual to be able to know that if they keep feeding their face with these types of food they will of course put on weight. Remember the old saying that everything in moderation... really is a good rule to follow.
13 :
Interesting because most fast food has an unhealthy amount of sugar which has been clinically examined and although not officially, it is considered a semi-addictive product. Studies have shown that the levels of sugar and fats in the food along with the act of eating itself have caused spikes in endorphin levels and then the rapid increase in glucose levels to counteract the sugar has been shown to cause depression similar to coming down from cocaine. So its technically possible to be addicted to fast food. However, no one ever made you eat it in the first place and they tell you fast food is fattening. so no, they shouldn't be held liable for a person inability to control their own behavior. but interesting. i recommend watching super size me great example.
14 :
yes, they have been screwing us over for years. I think it should be illegal to make money. What's with making an honest living by selling affordable food and making it available to the common man, how selfish. That really gets my goat. I hope those bastards get strung up and hung because they have wronged America and the rest of the world for that matter. they should be ashamed of their entrepreneurial spirit.
15 :
Although several attempts have been made to my knowledge they were all dismissed as without merit. If you are eating to excess and making poor food choices you would have to be living under a rock not to know that those choices will result in overweight and its increased risks of high blood pressure and diabetes. It amazes me that someone can eat a whole box of spaghetti and then wonder why they are fat. But then it also amazes me that some can eat the same box of spaghetti and not be fat, so maybe there are a few things we have left to learn before we write people off as lazy and stupid fat people who only have to stop eating so much to lose weight.
16 :
Not at all. It is their choice to eat the food.
17 :
no. with all the health warnings aired and posted it's not right. just as those who sue tobacco co.'s over their diseases from smoking. we're all versed in homes and school about healthy ways to take care of ourselves---no excuse to get a free ride for self accepted choices.(m a smoker-so not bashing)
18 :
No I do not think it's fair because the fast food company isn't making them eat the food, the customer is making their own decision to eat the food. They don't have to eat alot of the food either, so that's their fault. I don't think the person who is suing the company would win anyway because the company doesn't make you fat or make you have poor health, the person does.
19 :
My thought is NO
20 :
No it is not fair to sue a fast food company . They are not forcing you to come and eat. and obesity and poor health comes not only by eating, it also comes by laziness or not playing any games or exercising. I know a lot of people who eat huge quantities but they exercise and burn every thing out.
21 :
Fair? Well, seeing as the fast food chain isn't required to divulge the ingredients of it's food, or the nutritional information, how are people supposed to make an educated decision? Also, I think most fast food chains actually have the funds on hand to deal with a few lawsuits, whereas the obese people rarely have the funds to deal with their condition. So, yeah, it's almost fair. Now, is it right? Fact is, most severely obese people would end up severely obese, with or without fast food, they would find a way to eat themselves to death. Blaming it on the fast food chain is a moot point.
22 :
No, that's like sueing a brewery because you became drunk, or sueing a tobacco company because you got cancer from smoking. Or sueing the sugarcane processesors for your diabetes. It's up to the individual to practice moderation and self control!
23 :
Seems ridiculous to me! I can see suing tobacco companies, since they put addictive additives in just to hook people. But fast food is no more addictive than chocolate or potato chips. People CAN choose salads and health foods instead. They should be required to have clearly stated nutritional values, though, just like on packaged foods. But most people wouldn't read them anyway. Some people buy big cans of lard, too. Should it be outlawed? I happen to be a health conscious vegetarian and don't eat any of that stuff--- but everyone should be able to make their own choices. Just about anything that's sold can be abused.
24 :
well no, then again they eat the food. So no.
25 :
No, i dont think so. People were made to have brains and make the correct decisions on his or her own. Do not blame the way the world works now-a-days because of your dis-benefit. People use different ways to make money, it is like sewing a bank because they made your feet tired from standing in line. Makes no absolute sense. The same way if a person becomes obese because of eating burgers all the time and they choose not to exercise. Now, it is relatively different because a bank benefits and theres a difference bween what benefits and what does not however, fast food places do actually benefit with their fattening foods. THEY give people energy that is needed when they are hungry. It is a faster way of access to food as well. Supersizing these menus are not of benefit to people but it is how people make a profit now-a-days. People do things even though they are aware of the consequences. Kinda like a liability. If you enjoy doing it or it benefits, then there is really no second thought to it.. IS there? The same way ppl choose to undergo surgery, they know the risks of having a fraud doctor, but they want to look better. So they do it anyway. what happens if it looks badd.. some ppl think this is a just reason to sew, but if the doc. is a proffesional and u do not like the job done, who are you to sew him? You chose to trust him and he did the best he can...u should ahve just left your body alone. Thats how i see the whole situation.
26 :
no..it is not fair...the burgers and fries served at fast food restaurants have no more fat and calories then those served in "sit down" restaurants and the portions are mostly smaller in the fast food places. We need to take responsibility for our own choices. www.mcdonalds.com offers a great service for those who wish to make the right choice. go to the food, nutrition and fitness section and click on ..bag a meal...click on whatever you would order..and it will give you all the nutritional info for your entire meal. Its quick and easy...check it out
27 :
Ok first of all I am a larger person, who has in the past eaten fast food ( i don't now though) and i would never even consider sueing any company for MY getting fat. The reasons are simple it just isn't right, because they didn't force that person to go to the place and buy anything, and even if for some reason they want to argue that they did by chance have NO choice in buying the food, they did NOT have to consume it. The choice to consume anything is up to the individual, and not the owner of the company. I am pretty sure that NO ONE had a gun, or knife to this persons head, and was threatening them bodily harm if they didn't eat the food from that fast food place. In my opinion the one being sued is in the right for those plain and simple answers.
28 :
you could like petition it.it would be awesome if someone petitioned for it,but i dont think it would be right to sue them, because fast food is eaten world wide by many pple and the fast food company are meant to do that so they can make it taste good for better profit.i dont think its right to sue them b/c its not like they forced everyone to eat it in their lives.its really your decision if u want to clog your arteries-not theirs.
29 :
Its not fair because you are not forced to eat it. You could go somewhere else, and get something that's not poisonous, and might have a chance of having a little nutritional value. The food giants are not interested in your health, they are only interested in your money. The various preservatives and chemicals in junk food are designed to make you want to eat more, so that you buy more. You can loose weight by eating a healthy diet. If you eat plenty of fruit, and fresh vegetables, then you will not want to eat other stuff, and will lose weight. And not only that, but you will be far healthier too. If you avoid processed foods entirely, then you will lose weight. If you avoid meat, and eat a vegetarian diet, your body will adjust to its natural weight, and you will experience vibrant health. You are a tool. That marked up "organic" food is no better or worse for you then the regular crap you get at Stop and Shop. You know that store that hires 3 retards for every 1 employee capable of tying his own shoes. And then one of them drops a glass bottle of juice and starts licking it up the floor. And then you realize that plastic bottles were implimented because retards kept dropping them in Stop and Shops. And then you get morally outraged because youre an enviromentalist feminazi and you realize that retards are the reason for plastic. And then you become an enviromentalist feminazi nazi and you start wiping out the mentally deficient. Anyway where I'm going with this is that you will never be loved.

Sounds like the "Invisible Hand" had an emotional enema..... The best bet would be to ask the workers. What's good about people working there is they listen to customers, talk about their experiences with various supplements. So they'll get some insight as to what might work and not work. However, the real truth is that no one thing works the same on everyone. Because everyone's body is different from others'. That body's needs are different that others'. so I might need extra A or C, but you don't. I took a supplement that helped me to feel grounded and more emotionally calm, but a friend didnt' ahve any results. His body didn't need it. So most important is findign what works for you. Sometimes yu have to try different brands, different formulas to find what works for you. Being healthy is an experience, not a scientific formula. I can name you brands and vitamins that have helped me, literally saved my life. But they might be meaningless to you because you don't have those specific needs. But it's good to read up on lots of the free literature that health foods give you at checkout stand. I've gained great knowledge about products from simply reading the small magazines. Wisdom comes from gaining knowledge, and also choosing which knowledge to use. Same for health products.

Depends on how much you eat normally, if you eat 1500 normally then you will GAIN weight, whereas if you normally eat 1700 then You will LOSE weight. Work your normal intake total first. Next, type in BMR on google and it calculates the amount of calories you burn if you were at rest all day, so adding excersize to that should add up and be more than you consume. TO LOSE WEIGHT YOU HAVE TO BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU CONSUME. Try this site, i love it and it helps you lose weight, and its free (go to the bottom of the page when it comes up with the words 'go gold' and u shud see a button what says its free) www.livestrong.com hope i helped

All you need are the foods below. Complex Carbohydrates: (Fibrous) Asparagus Broccoli Okra Cauliflower Green Beans Brussels Sprouts Peas Cucumber Squash Collard greens Mushrooms Zucchini Lettuce Salads Pepper, green or red Tomatoes, pasta sauce, salsa Spinach Kale Natural Simple Carbohydrates (Fruit) Apples Blueberries Bananas Oranges Raspberries Berries Nectarines Plums Grapes Peaches Cantaloupe Grapefruit Pears Complex Carbohydrates (Starchy) Oatmeal, Cream of Rice, Cream of Wheat, Cream of Rye, oat bran, barley, multi-grain Potatoes (white, red) Yams, sweet potatoes, carrots Beans, lentils, legumes Brown Rice 100% whole grain dry cereals 100% whole wheat or whole grain pasta 100% whole wheat bread & whole grain products Lean Proteins: Chicken breast, Turkey breast Fish (Flounder, Haddock, Salmon, Cod, Tuna.) Shellfish (Lobster, shrimp, Clams, etc.) Lean Red Meat (Flank Steak, Round Steak, extra lean sirloin) Eggs/Egg whites (One yolk for every six whites) Low or non fat dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.) Dairy Products (1% low fat, skim, or non fat) Milk Cheese Yogurt Cottage cheese ULTIMATELY... you must know your lean body mass percentage, without it you cannot know for sure how well you are doing! Always eat carbohydrate AND lean protein to boost the thermic effect of the food you eat. This keeps you burning calories longer and faster. Meal timing is important. Ensure to eat every 2 1/2 - 4 hours, thee hours is best if eating 6 times per day. When trying to lose the last bit of fat DO NOT EVER reduce your calories! Simply do longer cardio sessions (or HIIT) to keep your metabolism revved up and burning calories, and keep lifting weights. It's better to work the fat off rather than trying to lose if by not eating (which only works to a degree, at which point your body will start to store fat again). You can also cycle your carbs. Only eat the starchy ones in the morning and keep the fibrous veg for afternoon meals. If you must eat fruit do it early in the day and avoid all fruit in the afternoon. (these tips are not meant to be used a permanent diet! only for the last amount of weeks when aiming for a goal date) As soon as you reach your goal, switch over to a maintenance plan or you will plateau.

Eating healthy is about avoiding the unhealthy food as much as possible. Once you stay away from fast food (any restaurant food, really), packaged and boxed food, except for bread, pasta (if you’re too lazy to make your own bread and pasta, using bread flour and pasta flour), and except for rice and things like lentils and beans…. If you stay away from canned food, prepared food, processed food, then you’re left with the fruits/veggies, whole wheat food (the brown kind of bread, pasta), brown rice, lean meat and the good kind of oil (olive, avocado, nuts, fish). Also the cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal and make anything unhealthy, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer (using water), a rotisserie (using heat and herbs), a slow cooker (using homemade broth and herbs), a pressure cooker, a grill… A healthy (an delicious) free range skinless chicken leg cooked in a rotisserie with herbs could have been an unhealthy chicken leg, fried with the skin even if it did not come from some battery cage. Even focusing on the produce section could be unhealthy if you’re sensitive to fertilizers and fungicides used for mass production. So you need to buy organic food or grow your own. Beware that six-packs are not a natural phenomenon. You have to do hundreds of repetitive exercises to continually damage the muscle fiber so you can repair stronger and get bigger muscles while eating insane amounts of carbs and proteins. You can go too far, since it’s more about look than about strength. Your body, somewhere, somehow, is wondering what is wrong with you that you have to move like that endlessly and that his repairing is never good enough. Then you can never really look like an actor or an underwear model, 24/7, because they prepare for photo shoots (movie scenes, commercials..) for several days by temporarily dehydrating to limit bloating due to water retention and they also get help from some added photo shopped shadows here and there. Some actors train intensely for 6 months just for a movie role. Then when the movie opens, a year later, they’re caught in their swimsuit, on the beach, NOT having such a ripped body…it’s embarrassing. Your “small amount of fat” is mostly there to insulate your body (warm/cold external temperatures), to protect your internal organs against injury (cushioning) and to provide an alternate source of energy when needed. It’s like you want to live in a house with no roof, no walls and no food. Fat reserves provides other countless benefits like if your immune system cannot handle some disease because they’re too much of it in your blood stream, it will store some in your fat reserves, so it can deal with the rest of it, before tackling those. Skinny people very often complain about being too cold or being too hot, or hungry or just sick. Even women have problems with “those pesky last five pounds” because the body does not want you to get rid of it. It’s looking out for you

Why just health care? Why not your mortgage, food and clothing too

Why just health care? Why not your mortgage, food and clothing too?
What separates health care from any other commodity that we need, and why do we need the government to provide it for us? What's next? Government grocery stores, Government housing? Look how well that's gone. If you don't have food, you die right? If you don't have housing you die, right?

As long as there are people who can pay for others, it'll work just fine. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car, I won't have to worry about paying for my house. All my needs taken care of and payed for by someone else.
2 :
It has gone well for those who had nothing.
3 :
That will all come soon enough. Quiet about this...we don't want to give them more ideas.
4 :
hey you american person based on whats happened in history, a mixed market economy is always best, communism doesnt work because people cant work together pure capitalism doesnt work becasue because poeple are too greedy if george bush hadn't loosened government control on the houseing market then we wouldnt have had that recession besides, the canadian health care system is fine.
5 :
Didn't you know? Wal-Mart is a CIA plot to socialize all of America's consumer goods.
6 :
Because a lot of people CANNOT get health care for a variety of reasons, sometimes just because they are over 40 and their employer won't provide it. If you have great need, yes, the government will help with housing, food, and clothing. But you don't have an evil corporation keeping you from getting those things. I would far rather have the government help us with paying for health care costs than some profit drive corporatocracy who would rather see you die because then they don't have to pay your bills any more

what are health & environmental benefits of eating lower on the food chain

what are health & environmental benefits of eating lower on the food chain?
how does it help the individuals&other people?

Lower order edibles like what? how low are we talking? you can't live off of algae alone. I think i get the gist of the question though. lower order plants and animals replicate fast and are abundant. removing large chunks of them does not hurt the viability of the food web. if you start taking out higher level organisms like primary of secondary predators though it is very easy to loose the controls on the underlying system. if i eat a chicken (free range of course) i don't have a big impact on the environment because there are a lot of chickens. As for health, toxins are concentrated the higher you go up the food web. That's why it is not recommended that you eat tuna more than once a week

3 :
well it's only dark chocolate and because it's good for your heart! :D try to eat 6 ounces of it a day.
4 :
Chocolate is a junk food.
5 :
Chocolate is good for you. they say the darker the chocolate the better it is for you.
6 :
Not all chocolate is good for you, let me break it down for ya ;) White Chocolate is the worst for you, technically it's not even chocolate at all, it's a type of sugar yogurt because it lacks any cocoa beans in it at all. It's pretty much just fat and sugar. Milk Chocolate has a low percentage of cocoa beans and has a lot of milk fat inside of it, making it not very healthy at all either. Dark Chocolate is considered healthy; however, due note that the higher the % of cocoa in the dark chocolate, the better that it is going to be for you. Cocoa beans are packed full of flavonoids which are antioxidants (vitamins A, C, & E) Which are good for preventing sun damage & aging and your overall system in general. Hope that helped
7 :
Chocolate is a health food because it contains nutrients such as magnesium and antioxidants. Chocolate can also affect your brains chemicals which leads to a feeling of bliss and happiness. Unprocessed chocolate contains quite a few more nutrients than processed chocolate and unprocessed chocolate would be in the form of raw cacao nibs or raw cacao powder

Instead of eating health food, why can't I keep eating my normal diet with a multi vitamin

Instead of eating health food, why can't I keep eating my normal diet with a multi vitamin?
I normally eat around 2500 calories in a day, and I'm not overweight. I do, however, eat a lot of "empty calorie foods" like bagels, muffins, noodles, low fat tortilla chips, grilled cheese sandwiches, bean burritos, etc, and I take a multi vitamin and a calcium supplement daily to make up for it. A recent day for me included the following: Breakfast: 2 muffins (800 cal) Lunch: 1 Taco Bell bean burrito & coke (500 cal) Dinner: Spaghetti dinner (1000 cal) Total Calories, approx. 2300 + multi vitamin. A health nut I know recently got on me for this, and said the multi vitamin doesn't make up for eating empty calorie foods. She said to start eating more naturally healthy things like vegetables, fish, etc. She gave me an explanation as to why, but it sounded bogus and I purged it from my memory as know-it-all health club babble. My question is what is wrong with eating my normal diet, provided I'm already in shape and not over eating, keeping everything in moderation, and taking a multi vitamin? How is eating stereotypical health foods like kale, cauliflower, and salmon better for you (if it even is)? A little more info: 1. I stay away from foods that are considered nutritional suicide, like doughnuts, french fries. I just don't eat uber nutritious things like broccoli and kale on a regular basis unless they are mixed in with a dish, so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. 2. I exercise regularly. Thanks for the input so far.

in order to keep your heart, brain, and other organs working well you need nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. while vitamins can provide some nutrients, the best form to get them from is natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc.
2 :
multi-vitamins will compensate for nutrition, but you might get fat from eating empty calorie foods. If your not worried about that then your fine.
3 :
Your sound like your full of shit. Literally. Fiber? Vitamins? Minerals? Enzymes? Electrolytes? Beneficial bacteria?..NOT the kind in yogurt. That is acid forming. You need alkaline forming bacteria, that eating fruits and vegetables promote. Good luck living your life taking a "muti-vitamin" everyday. That does not make up for a crappy diet even a little bit. Enzymes and electrolytes are the most important thing for staying alive, even over vitamins, and a muti vitamin doesn't and can't offer that. Only natural RAW food can.
4 :
Your diet doesn't seem too healthy to me.You should be getting the majority of your nutrients from real food, not from a pill. You can't "make up" for the vitamins and other nutrients you lack. You might be in shape but you need to think about what you're putting in your body. Think of it like this - you can have a hot car but if you put chicken grease where the gas goes your car will turn into crap! (Bad comparison, I know haha) If you put healthy things in your body it will continue to function well and you'll just be healthier and in better shape for longer without having to work out so hard. You should ask your "health nut" friend to explain this to you again, she's right

For those that think capatalism is great! How's the housing market, oil prices, health care and food prices

For those that think capatalism is great! How's the housing market, oil prices, health care and food prices?

Elections - 16 Answers

Its going great! How are things on the communal beet farm?
2 :
You mean as opposed to communism, which worked out really well, didn't it?
3 :
The cost of housing, oil, health care, and food have all increased but I'm able to buy all of them. I prefer paying for what I use than having the government dictate what I can and cannot purchase or having to pay for someone elses mistakes.
4 :
Better then it was in the Soviet Union.
5 :
I just bought a new house. I have 3 major grocery stores and 2 small produce shops to choose from within 5 miles. I am pretty healthy, but my routine health care check ups are fine. Oil prices have been dropping for the last week.
6 :
The housing market is great!!! My taxes are going down because my housing value is going down. As for oil prices, I work from home so I don't care. I get health care from my job and I eat from my fruit trees and garden and can what I don't eat. Capitalism is great.
7 :
I believe that this entire slump in housing market, credit crisis, and oil prices is man made--maybe not with the intention of disabling our economy, but certainsly with the intention of gaining personally----and so I say capitalism sucks....
8 :
For me all is fine. Good job, own my home, Have Health care. Food and gas are high, but I haven't overextended myself, so I can absorb the increase. Anyone who can remember the 80's realizes that this is not as bad as the Carter times, but it's cyclical and the economy will bounce back , if we're not taxed to death by the next President.
9 :
Think it is great myself. Housing market decline is based on bad choices by really stupid decisions made by buyers. Fraud and Deception on the part of Sub Prime lenders. All Dems by the way on the Sub Prime side of he coin. Oil is directed and dictated by supply and demand, has nothing to do with capitalism. Health care. where in the constitution of this country does it say we have to take care of your ass. It doesn't . Food prices are up because of Oil prices statement of fact not saying its good. But we need to control the movement of goods and services, and do a better job on the fuel prices. Drilling here at home does that.
10 :
Those prices have only increased because of regulation and Government intervention. They would go down if we could actually have Capitalism.
11 :
I don't take into account anything that the Government regulates or controls with a heavy hand. There is a lot less free market capitalism in the energy sector that you would like to believe. The same goes for the heavily subsidized food production and housing market. My health care is pretty good, though. Thank you for asking. But the real question is, what makes you think the Government as the right, the authority or the mandate to run any of the above? And name one major accomplishment of the Government over the last 40 years that would show us the Government could run any of the above better and more efficiently than the private sector. Just one single major ACCOMPLISHMENT. Just one? Didn't think so. More proof Socialism sucks.
12 :
it's all going great in MY world. i really mean it. i have tried to plan on things costing more. any moron could have seen this coming a decade away.
13 :
Yes I agree, we should adopt cubu's plan at once. Then we can all stand in line to worship our new leader.
14 :
No system is perfect and, sadly, capitalism fails on quite a few fronts. However, in my opinion, liberal democracies underpinned by capitalism are, at the moment, the best option for the human race. What are the alternatives anyway; the few citadels of communism dotted around the world? Or perhaps the demented theocracies of a few Middle East countries? Or should we re-consider pre-industrial, agrarian societies or even feudalism perhaps. Who knows, there may be something in them! Money, cars and stuff do not make you happy as an individual. Neither do ideologies ( such as communism) or religion.
15 :
It's working, the banks are failing as they should for making all those bad loans to people who should never have gotten them that's the bad side of capitalism. Now for true capitalism to work and here's the bad news the banks can NOT and should NOT be bailed out. Home prices should fall and far as health care cost to be honest we're getting gouged for shoddy service Vioxx comes to mind. Imported food and oil prices are the results of running up the $10 TRILLION deficit and ignoring all the reports about China and India's need for oil that have been published over the last 8 years. Again capitalism is working. Toyota Prius' are flying off the lot and SUV's are piling up. GM shut down several truck plants and we've all seen Ford's numbers. In that case capitalism should have worked better provided we actually READ economic reports, curbed the spending keeping the dollar stable, deficit low and started building smaller and hybrid cars sooner. I noticed Toyota and Honda were ready. GM and Ford obviously were not and again they should close their doors. No bailouts either. They were stupid and should pay for it. Yeah the economy will be jacked for a few years(I figure 10+ or until we learn - highly unlikely). In the meantime next time some smug bastard earning $10 - $15 per hour will really be able to afford his home. Unlike some of these other responses I've seen. As an accountant I'll bet dollars to donuts they're not as well off as they claim to be or are a big fish in a very small pond. Like small town Montana.
16 :
Dear Communist, For those of you who think communism is great! How's the Soviet Union....oh wait, they collapsed on their PATHETIC self didn't they? There is no such thing as perfect, capitalism isn't perfect but it's the best out there. And I guess common sense isn't really so common anymore is it? Loving my Freedom and Capitalism, Matt

Healthy food choices begin to make a positive difference immediately. But I would focus on exercise first because it is easier to maintain. Fad diets don't seem to have good balance to them. Best to make sure you are getting some protein, some carbs, and some vitamins (fruits and veggies) at each meal. If you think about that way, you will have less cravings

What is the best and worst fast food place to eat (health wise)

What is the best and worst fast food place to eat (health wise)?
I was told taco bell was the worst and either wendy's or burger king were the best. meaning they have healthier choices. your thoughts?
Fast Food - 14 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Agree with Wendys and Burger king...Mcdonalds is gettin better....Hardees is the WORST!!!
2 :
Well Subway is the healthiest by far......and the worst just might be KFC....they just got into some trouble for lying about how certain stuff was made and the fact that it is really, really bad for people..Although, we should all know, any fast food is not going to be as healthy as something prepared at home in a healthy manner.
3 :
I have read a couple books on the actual calories and stuff in the different restaurants and i have to say the worst are Dairy Queen and Mcdonalds, some of the stuff is ok its just the french fries are killers.
4 :
worst => all kind of fast food like mc donalds and burger king and more. u'll die at age of 55 healthiest is making your meal at home in natural ways. and u wont die when yur 80.
5 :
Chinese is the fattest food out there. Fast food wise I'd say Rally's.
6 :
Subway is the healthiest. All those other places aren't good for you at all. Most french fries no matter where they are sold have the same calories and fat. Wendy's and BK do have really healthy alternatives to fatty fries or burgers.
7 :
Subway = Best. All the rest = Bad. BurgerKing: VERY BAD - WESTERN BACON THINGY 500 FAT GRAMS!! Mcdonalds: VERY BAD - BIG MAC 500 FAT GRAMS!!!!!! Popeyes: Heartattack food. Kentucky Fried Chicken: Death in a bucket. Common sense peeps. Wendy's is still bad, just less so. Most fast food places have sugar in everything (yes, even their salads contain sugar. It's disgusting.) Watch SuperSizeMe. That should be required watching for everyone in the country.
8 :
Taco Bell is DEFINITELY the worst offender because virtually anything you get there is loaded with trans fat and saturated fat. There really are no healthy choices south of the border. For the best, that would probably be Subway...
9 :
Panera Bread and L&L Hawaiin BBQ...is good. Probably McDonalds is the worst.
10 :
It doesn't really matter which fast food place you go to. You have to be knowledgable about what kind of foods have what kind of fat. If you get a burger from anywhere: it is probably going to be very high in fat, calories and cholesterol. Can you tell if something has been deep fried? Anything which has been deep fried in any way has a very high fat, calories and cholesterol content. You can get a salad from anywhere: But Don't dare put any dressing on it from any fast food place: why? read the back. 100 calories a serving+ 3 servings= 300 calories. I think some also have like 24 grams of fat in just that packet. Some dressings are more, some are less. .. you have to know how many calories are in what you are eating and how many fat grams. That's basically what it comes down to. I don't know how old you are, but I'm assuming you are a woman. We really shouldn't be eating anymore than 1600-2000 (at the very most) calories and at most 15-20 grms of fat a day. If you want to lose any weight at all, you should try to cut your calories down to 1200 or so and your fat intake down to no more than 10-12 grms.--- or even less if you want to lose weight faster, but then get back into healthy eating after you've lost the weight and keep it off through daily exercise. Basically, you can eat anywhere if you know the kinds of foods you are eating that have what kind of calorie and fat content. -- IF you don't know anything about calories or fat, it is useless to say one place is better or worse than the other-- the judge has to be you through becoming a well informed consumer.
11 :
worst: mcdonalds best: in'n' out
12 :

What are the effects of microwave cooking to a person's health; person's lifestyle;and to the microwaved food

What are the effects of microwave cooking to a person's health; person's lifestyle;and to the microwaved food?
i wanted to see the current status of microwave cooking. Who usually use it? Do they experience some negative effects from it? What do they do after knowing its effect to them? how long does one notice the effects of microwaving? Does everyone really believe that microwave cooking gives more negative than positive effects?

Other - Health - 1 Answers

The only thing I know of that's negative about microwave cooking I learned via Elton Brown from Food Network's Good Eats! He did a show about broccoli and how microwaving it removes all the vitamin's from the broccoli. As to the health aspects of eating the broccoli you lose all the wonderful benefits of the vegetable. He didn't say that microwaving other vegetables will have the same effects on them so I'd be guessing if I said so. I'm not sure if this makes any sense because I'm still waking up but have a great Wednesday! Duchess
