Scientists disagree on this. While there seems to be no danger from the radiation, there ARE health hazards. The urban legend about water boiling/exploding after being removed from the microwave, while incredibly rare, actually happens. Just under very tight conditions. Food exploding, such as potatoes and eggs, might also be hazardous. Poisons leaching into the foods from non-microwavable bowls, spoons, forks have also been documented. Mostly these are plastics. But will you get cancer and die from microwaving a burrito? No.

The only thing that I have heard is that you shouldn't cook or reheat anything in the microwave thats in a plastic container. Something in the plastic gets in the food and can cause cancer. I'm not sure how true this is, but ever since my mom told me this, I heat things up in a glass container instead of plastic.

Microwaves are a wonderful way to cook foods and are healthier than many "traditional" methods. Microwaving vegetables is actually healthier than boiling them on the stove. Whenever you cook something you loose some nutrients but in the microwave you have a shorter cooking time and you do not need to use water (which leaches away nutrients). Microwaving affecting your blood is just an old myth. People are alway scared of new &/or different things - I thought these ridiculous rumours would be gone (but I know a lot of people believe them).

I actually heard that when you microwave food with saran wrap on it (like on a bowl of soup or something), the little droplets (condensation) that accumulate and fall in the food can cause cance
