it seems as if the consumers should be responsible for their own health, should they not?

The fast food industry has yet to force anyone to eat their food. We are each resposible for our actions and their consequences.

I have to say that it is the consumer's choice to enter an establishment and spend their money there. On the other hand, if there were some scientific link showing that the types of foods served in these restaurants are addictive in any way, then the restaurants have a responsibility too.

In this country you are not forced to buy anything, so it is someones own personal choice what they eat. The problem with that the fast food places is that can't find any nutritional info. so people don't really know how many calories they are consuming or fat content. I think it should be labeled like on products like in the grocery store but it is ultimately up the the consumer what choices they make when eating.

I think that all food establishments should provide accurate nutrition info for all their food items. The consumer is always responsible for their own health, and they need to use their common sense to know what's good for them. However, sometimes common sense doesn't apply. Some restaurant items have 1500+ calories, which is totally unreasonable and makes little to no sense. Claim Jumper is notorious for this, and they don't provide nutritional info for any of their items. I think that's wrong.

Fast food industries do not force people to eat it, HOWEVER - the foods used contain addictive ingredients and that keeps people coming back to eat more of it. White flour, high fructose and corn syrup are all addictive ingredients used in the making of most fast food orders. This is similar to whether or not gangsta rap, video games and horror films are responsible for the crimes some people commit. In this way, I believe that those songs, games and movies are not harmful if the individual is of sound mind and takes responsibility for his/ her own actions. If some of these people are not of sound mind, the games, music and movies they are subjected to can affect their behavior and actions they take. And with fast food combined with individuals not of sound mind with their eating habits, it contributes to providing negative results. My point is, since not everyone is healthy-minded, they can produce dangerous results when they choose foods, music, games, movies that have unhealthy, potentially damaging elements to them. To an extent, it is the responsibility of the individual, but I place some of the blame on the content of the product as well because it IS a contributing factor in the results of the customer's health. That's why many cereals have removed the word SUGAR from cereal names (no more SUGAR Smacks, no more SUGAR Pops), and they make less sugar cereals... Also, McDonald's stopped cooking fries in animal fat. Obviously these food chains know they share in some of the responsibility of the health of their customers! Sadly, some people think it is 100% on the customer. Fact is, we don't NEED greasy, fatty, calorie-ridden foods sold at fast food places and they know it.

The fast food places offer the food to you, but that does not make you eat it. You are responsible for that 1000 cal. burger you just scarffed down, not the restaurant. Incidentally, they do have yogurt, fruit, chili, soup, salad, etc. for people who want to go to eat fast food places and eat healthy.

People make choices all the time, Sadly many seem to feel that even though they made the choice, someone else should be responsible for it! To me this makes no sense! If I choose to eat at (insert fast food establishment here) I am deciding that at that moment in my life, I am going to get something to eat that may or may not be the best choice at the time! I am the one that made the choice. I am the one that looked at the menu. I am the one that decided that I wanted something that tastes good rather than something that is "good for me"! Unless someone holds a gun to my head and forces me to eat at a certain place, I have a choice! I am responsible for that choice!

They post the nutritional analysis on their websites and sometimes even in their restaurants. If someone chooses to exist on a fast food diet, it's THEIR problem if they start oozing all over the place. I'm not for government control of menu items. Yeah, trans fats are very bad. But is someone isnt intelligent enough to avoid them, they should die and decrease the surplus population. I mean, how many chest pains and numb left arms do you need to tell you something is wrong? If enough people stop eating in places that serve unhealthy foods, the restaurant will get the hint.

blaming the fast food industry for a customer's health is like blaming a mexican restaurant for having the sh*ts. you chose to eat there, you face the consequences.

i dont believe fast food has anything to do about anyones health. bc its the consumers that wants to eat it. its the consumer who wants to eat there. the fast food industry isnt saying here eat this or im going to sue u. its not the fast food industrys fault that u dont exercise and take care of urself.

Our health is our responsibility. No one forces anyone through the doors of McDonald's. But the fast food industry should have to tell the truth about what's in their 'food?' And if anyone believes that there is anything healthful about fast food, well then... I'm not trying to be mean but maybe they deserve what they get.

I THINK THE COMPANY SHOULD HOLD ZERO LIABILTY. FAST FOOD IS BUSNIESS. LIKE ALL OTHER BUSNIESS MOVES IT IS EACH PARTY'S RESPONSIBLITY TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN THE BEST POSTION POSSIBLE. IF THE CONSUMER WOULD RESEARCH BEFORE THEY MAKE THEIR PURCHASE THEN THEY WOULD BE WELL AWARE THAT THEY ARE NOT MAKING A WISE PURCHASE. IF THEY STILL VENTURE INTO THAT DECISION THEN "BUYER BEWARE" BY THEY WAY I MAKE THIS BAD BUSNIESS MOVE ON A DAILY BASES SO I AM NOT AGAINST THE FAST FOOD INDUSTRY
