What is the best kind of food to feed a St. Bernard to keep him in good health

What is the best kind of food to feed a St. Bernard to keep him in good health?
We feed him Beneful and he seems to like it, and he is fit, not fat. Is this a decent food to feed, or is there something better?

There is something better, there are actually a lot of foods better than Beneful. Innova and Canidae are probably the best you'll be able to find.... Here is an interesting dog food review website: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/

I highly recommend http://www.frrco.com/121668 and their fish and chips formula. It's human grade, baked ingredients which is highly digestible. You also feed 1/2 as much as what the local stores carry, because of the quality ingredients. This means the cost will be relatively the same, just a little higher per feeding. Grocery and pet store carried brands carry a lot of preservatives, fillers, sugar, and by products that can lead to health and behavior problems. Beneful is not that great...I used it before doing the research and switching to the Fish and Chips formula I recommended. Be sure that if you switch, you do so gradually. More old food with less new food, then increase the new and decrease the old until the dog is completely on the new food. If you switch from a food like Beneful to a higher quality like the one I mentioned, give it a couple of months for the dog to get accustomed to it, as they will "detox" the sugars, preservatives, fillers and by products in their system. They may shed more and have a dull coat during this period, but then their skin and coat will be healthier than ever! And they will also poop less with a higher quality food, since more is digested. Good luck! St. Bernards are beautiful!

Personally I would feed him the local children who come trick-or-treating.

Iams is much better because my dog doctor told me that foods that have color in it and things like that arent good because they added in other stuff in it which is not good.
