What role does corn play in processed food?

a lot of processed food has artificial flavoring and additives and it causes stress on the liver to process these artificial and non-natural chemicals. Too much stress on the liver could eventually lead to cancer. I'm not too sure about corn but I believe its pretty hard to digest.
